Opening Day

So, now that the opening weekend has come and gone I wanted to get people's opinions on the upcomming 2007/2008 season. I personally was amazed at how uncrowded the mountain was this weekend. Is anyone besides me beginning to think that this despite the fact that everyone paid twice as much money for the pass with very little "on mountain" changes that the increased price may be worth the extra money for the sole benefit of a less crowded mountain. I mean, we may have paid more but the conditions were less skiied out and gondola/lift lines were significantly shorter then previous years. So, is skiing/boarding twice as much in a day with better conditions worth twice the money?
P.S. After asking many lift operators how POWDR and AP Land is treating the employees, many of them had positive remarks to say about the new owners. Again, very surprising after many of there co-workers were let go in the off season.

After Saturday I'm thinking driving away half the people is a good thing.
I showed up late Saturday found a spot to park with trailer no problem.
never waited on line, found trails that were empty all in all I'm happy.
we'll except that all my ski partners were A41 fair weather friends.

Not a real scientific analysis but....
Could it be that ,as compared to those years when K was the first and only area opened, that this year with MANY other choices for first weekend skiers and riders the early season bunch was simply spread out to other areas including Jiminy Peak which also opened this weekend???

I am soooooooooooooooo tired of people referring to a pass price increase, when actually the price has DECREASED, if you remove the fire-sale anomaly pricing of the past couple years, which clearly did not reflect any sort of reality.

The break even point used to be 20 ski days. With today's ticket prices, the season pass should cost $1500. ...but that was for a Halloween to June 1 season.
I guess that since they shortened the season from 7 months to 5 months, the pass price at $1000 somewhat comparable to the old pricing structure.

My OLD passes stated either November 1st to October 31st or October 1st to September 30th. I'll have to go back and check, but I think it was Nov. to Oct. providing early lifts if they managed to open.
