April Lifts & Lodges

Here is Ask Killington's response to my question regarding operations in April. I'm pleased with the possibility of the Canyon Quad on April 12-13, but not about Snowdon being almost shut down that weekend. It would be nice if they ran the BB Poma. Are there bare spots on Snowdon?
Great question Jim!
Here is what we will offer for lifts/lodges through closing day on April 20:
* Bear Mountain Lodge and lifts, Needles Eye Express, Northridge Triple, Snowdon Quad and Triple and Snowshed Lodge close after Sunday, April 6 (Snowshed Lodge bathrooms and beginner lifts will operate April 7-9 to accommodate the last UK school groups)
* Canyon Quad will operate “as needed” on weekends through April 13
* K-1 Lodge, and the K-1 Gondola and Superstar Express will be open from April 7-20
* No beginner terrain will be available after April 9.

You are kidding, aren't you? I think your definition of "as needed" and POWDR's are probably quite different. Depending on the weather (presumably sunny and warm), I'd rather sit in the sun on the Needles HSQ than ride the in the box of Upper Skyeship.

THE MAN: Well Un-Important Passholder, Also, Bear Mountain Lodge and lifts, Needles Eye Express, Northridge Triple, Snowdon Quad and Triple and Snowshed Lodge close after Sunday, April 6, additionally no beginner terrain will be available after April 9. We thought by quadrupling the cost of the kids programs we would be done with the carpet munchers sooner but oh well.
Un-Important Passholder: Excuse me you said carpet muncher did you mean rug rat, it seems you have a problem mixing up metaphors.
THE MAN: Um, whatever, as long as they're not bothering us. Let me continue, and don't interrupt me again.

That terrain is accessible from both the K1 and Superstar Quad. You're lucky we decided to stay open the extra week, now give us your money and STFU.
Oh, pick up a trail map and learn the layout HERB.

Right. I just love snowshed crossover on a warm slushy day (or any day for that matter) to get back to the Superstar lift.

Superstar to either of those, down to the Needles quad, up that, and then Bittersweet back to SS. I just don't like getting in a box on a nice day, and I'd rather not take my skis off, either. When it's cold or inclement, that's another story.

Yes, I am kidding. I do not expect POWDR to deem the Canyon Quad "needed" the last two weekends. Clearly, Needles HSQ is off the table after 4/6. I remember more open April lifts under previous owners. It is a shame, especially since there seems to be enough snow.

Don't worry. Box & quad probably won't be running.

this is all BS except for the beginner terrain being closed, if you recall even a broke ASC kept areas open longer last year when we had good snow. sure it snowed late into april, and conditions warranted keeping stuff open, but given where base depths stand now closing areas early is ludacris, but hey, they can bring in a bunch of cheap brits to keep their business going, how about the rest?

Minus a hike, please enlighten the rest of us as to how you can go from K1 all the way around the mountain and UP to the top of SkyeBurst or DreamMaker? I suppose you can magically lift yourself to the top of Needle's Eye and Thimble from K1 also.

K1 to top...GE>LaunchPad>(straight across Ovation, Superstar, Skyhawk, Skylark, and Bittersweet)> top of Needle's Eye, Thimble, Dreammaker, and Skyburst (100' down headwall).
