Ruttlander, RT alone is responsible for his actions. Possession of child pornography, in all cases, contributes to the sexual abuse of children - period. This is a grave offense and rapidly a growing problem in the internet era. The law rightly finds the offense so serious that jail time is almost always prescribed.

RT alone brought humiliation on his family, jeopardized his business interests and the livelihood of his employees. I don’t know if he can realistically continue to live in the Killington area after serving his sentence. We’ll see.

But in one sense, the judge did RT a favor by insisting treatment be part of his incarceration. RT needs to understand the unhealthy reasons behind his actions and the concern society has that these actions not only entail exploitation, but might also escalate. By prescribing treatment, the judge has given him just such a chance.

I’m hoping he takes it.
