I have Killington's 08/09 Guide in hand

Post by laseranimal »

Just came in at the local ski shop, apparently K is the first mountain to get their winter materials into shops as the owner was just unpacking them this morning to be put on display.

Insomuch as promotional materials go they actually did a pretty nice job

First two pages are all about GO BIG hyping Killington's terrain advantage and announces the new Skye Peak lift and Stash park. It also publicizes Kililngton's "guide" at www.killington.com/theguide

Pages 3-4 are all about the On Mountain experience, they hype their terrain and their snow guarantee.

The stats listed:

Mountains: 7
Summit Elevation: 4241'
Vertical Drop: 3050'
Trails: 191, 88 miles
39% Most Difficult
33% More Difficult
28% Easier

Lifts: 30-Including 2 Gondolas
Terrain Parks: 6
430' long superpipe with 18' walls

Annual Snowfall: 250"
Snowmaking Coverage: 71%

Page's 5-6 are a blank trailmap with only the lifts showing(also highlighting the new Express Quad), plus a mountain tour where they highlight each area and break down good places to ski for families, intermediates, and advanced.

Pages 5-6 are about the parks and pipes, its all about progression from the Timberline park up through the Stash and they're also hyping the US Snowboarding Grand Prix. Apparently Killington is now the Land of the Free and the Home of the Stash(where's my roll eyes emoticon)

I also caught a typo where they spelled the Dream Maker park as Dreamwmaker so thats a point off for the marketing department

Pages 7-8 are ski school, hyping max 5 in a class which includes Adult Group lessons, The burton learn to ride program and private lessons

9-10 are the events and off slope attractions.

Events calendar:

December 6th Rails to Riches
December 12-14 Killington's 50th Birthday
December 18-21 Vermont Holiday Festival
January 4-9 AND 11-16 Collegiate Snow Fest
February 15 Dead Presidents Rail Jam
March 14-15 US Snowboarding Grand Prix
March 28-29 Spring Loaded Pro/Am
April 4-5 BMMC
April 11 Sunshine Daydream
April 19 Pond Skimming

There is absolutely NO mention of "King Of Spring" instead they're hyping the Spring Jamboree where spring comes in like a lion and stays that way.

I'll try to get some scans up later
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

It says:

"Catch First Tracks.
Start off at the K1 Gondola. Opening as early as 7:30am on Saturdays it takes you to Killington Peak..."

This whole guide has not been updated since last season, so no, this is nothing new either....

Who is this imposter?
The name "Goombay" should not be used in vain.
This might require a sacrifice at the Grist Mill.
