i finally got a shave with a straight edge razor....

not a rusty (:-) straight edge but a straight edge non the less....my barber since 1974 moved to Tenn in December....pretty cool place....charged $5 less than my guy did....everyone gets a straight edge shave on the neck with each haircut....

I remember living in Bangkok and getting the shave, haircut, manicure and a bit more for less than a dollar.

Wasn't that many years ago either.

A sharp straight has always been the way to go.

I get those in Italy, first time,I will admit I was al ittle nervous when after the haircut the guy puts a straight edge to my neck. Man, what a close shave, no other method comes close.

I thought you were hardcore? First time? And not even a shave? The back of your neck doesn't count as a true "shave". Did he cover you with the hot towel?

I've been using a straight edge since I was a teenager which was decades age. Never could get a good shave w/ electric or a girly plastic razor. Did notice with the gel foam you do not press as hard.

When I was in the Navy riding Submarines aerosol cans (like shave cream) were not allowed on board.
Started using a mug and brush back then and still do today.
