Wednesday: The non-Okemo report

Post by Geoff »

I got really lethargic this morning since the sun really wasn't out and opted out of driving down to Ludlow.

Highlights:
The Bear Quad and the Rams Head quad are not running.
Outer Limits had a fantastic surface. You only miss a few turns at the top using the new lift to get there.
They pulled down that baby terrain park at the bottom of OL and removed the snow fence. The lift corral for the Bear Quad is also gone. No sign yet of the footprint for the anti-party cattle pen on Saturday.

I did K1 to Wildfire, six OLs, Dream-Control, Bittersweet, car. Upper Wildfire and the top part of Dream Maker were a little bit stiff.

I got a call from Mister Moose asking why I wasn't at Okemo. I guess Ozzy was sitting next to him in the chair. Since Bear and Needles are going away on Sunday unless you arrange a driver, I want to ski them instead of wasting my unemployment check money driving down to Ludlow. That's two beers at the Long Trail Brewery. I have my priorities.

I didn't see as many PSIA people giving standing-around lessons today. The snowboarder groups seemed to be doing more of the PSIA-style standing-around lessons then yesterday's sitting-around lessons.

Haven't skied anything steep in a few weeks and wanted to get some work in before BMMC, so I took today off. Bumps needed more skier traffic to loosen up; OL, Escapade, Dreammaker to Thimble to Needles Eye, and Superstar all grabby but firm. Plus skier's right on OL is crap. Ugly mounds of snow, no lines to speak of. Wasted vacation day.

Oh well, it happens.

You did. It's like the 20 pack of Bud (Mr G beer) in my mud room I bought last week that I'll never be able to live down.

Glad you had fun slip sliding around the big K, mondy. Okemo flat bumps were nice today.

maybe I had too much Kool-aid but I had a blast at K yesterday. Most everything was soft from the opening bell...East Fall for the first couple runs, then royal flush>highline (awesome all day long). Vagabond had some weird left over pow. Probably my favorite runs of the day were blue heaven>launchpad>OLD SUPERSTAR(awesomely soft bumps)>superstar. Upper Ovation was nice and soft as well. I never made it over to O.L., but all of Skye was nice and soft. Out from 9 -3, totally killed myself, no breaks. I took some pics but was too tired to upload them last night, will post them tonight if I get a chance.
