Rock Skis or New Skis this weekend...
that is the question. The logical answer is rock skis, given that it's the first week of the season, but I wanted to ask those of you who have already skied whether I can take my chances and get on my new skis.

new skis
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

I started out yesterday morning on my new obsetheds then switched to my older skis around noon. A few grassy spots opened up in the afternoon in the bump lines, but overall the cover was fine I would say. Who knows how the weather event later this week will alter the coverage however...

New Skis - 2
Rock Skis - 0.5
To my surprise, "new skis" is leading. Anyone else? I really want to get on my new skis, but I really don't want to ruin them the first week.

New skis. Only bare spots were in the bump lanes on the far edge of Reason. Plenty of coverage overall though.

After a few weeks, all skis are rock skis. Since it is unlikely you'll go in the woods, you're probably okay with the new, but nothing in the North Ridge area is such that what your using makes that much of a difference. So, if you're actually worried about it, use the rock skis. More important to go out and relax and have fun, and save the new for a day when you can focus on them, and what's different with respect to your old skis.
