E-mail from killington

Post by Gr8ful4snow »

When I asked why no more chat the response was.
"The decision to remove it was based mostly on the difficulty to maintain the content posted on the site & was more a Philosophical Stance on the part of the collective marketing team than in response to any one thing in particular.

I'm no brain surgeon and I'm sure not philisophical but I know the chat room created a huge amount of traffic for the K website.Apparently the Socrates of marketing aint on that team.

K management apparently does not know the beneficial things that this chat room provides. Many times newcomers to Killington have come into the chat room and asked for information which we gladly provided. Don't know if this chat room will see the same amount of traffic but if any newcomers ask us for info we will gladly provided once again.

Whatever benefit K received from Kchat, it will continue to recieve from this BB. But the benefit for K now is that when some of our more crzy posters go off on a nwbie, they won't have todeal with it.

I think that when someone quotes your post, you should get an additional post count for that!

Check your contract. It clearly states that all posted material is the property of the K Zone, and the postee relinquishes all rights to any reproduction of the material. Page 23, Section 12, Paragraph G.

First rule of internet marketing is to control the eyeballs. By giving up on K chat and ceding control to someone else, they've given up that control. As this board and this site develop, it can go in directions that are not consistent with K's marketing efforts. They may never notice a loss but others may notice a gain.

Actually it doesn't matter to Killington one way or the other. For us it just means more freedom

I would guess that marketing wants to have more total control over their product. The chat room was, to a certain extent not within their control, and may have conflicted with the message they want to convey, from snow and condition reports etc.

Site Numbers

Post by skialta »

One thing that marketing departments looks at is the number of people that hit their site. This is their bread and butter.

Which I am sure from the loss of the chat board and the clowns (like us) that are on it all day, I would HOPE that they see a decline in the number of users that visit the site on a daily basis.

The users of this site will not see any "specials" or any other crap the marketing departments want you to see. I won't because I would rather stop by this site than go to killington.com

However I question how newbies would be able to find this site other than word of mouth...is there anyplace where we can let them know this board exisits??!!
