I never realized that "paving porn" could be as good, if not even better viewing than the "1st snowmaking of the year porn" that we'll hopefully be seeing in the next few weeks! Amazing job by all the local crews, VT Trans crews and the National Guard!!

I was expecting gravel for the interim. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Any word on the sewer line repair?

My uninformed speculation is that the exposed pipe you can see to the right/south of the steam roller is a temporary sewer line. From what I've been reading in the RutVega$ Herald, Mendon Brook is Rutland's water supply and they have big water issues right now and are getting close to running out of water. The highest priority for Rutland is to have clear, unpolluted, non-turbid water flowing down the Mendon Brook.

Any idea how big that pipe is? Looks like electrical conduit...

Tremendous progress. I can't think of very many other times this much National Guard was out doing this much construction. I'm still interested to hear what the long term fix includes in terms of work shedule, lane closures, etc.

Which brings me to how little coverage this has had. For such a major artery getting so much resources you'd think there would be weekly newspaper articles. A few TV news stories with footage, interviews with dump truck drivers on coffee break, interviews with DOT officals on timeline, etc. Weekly statements from the Governors office.

I haven't seen a thing, and a google search got me to K-Zone, Killington Real Estate Blog, construction companies and auto repair places. I know they don't want a lot of media clogging up the works on site, but I've seen more info in the last 2 weeks on Afghanistan that I have on Mendon, VT.
