Just got back to Rutland!!!

Rime- Groomed, but bumped up on skiers left after a few hours.

Upper Double Dipper- opened at 11 with partial grooming and natural snow

Upper eastfall- fresh man-made and open water on skiers right, but was nice after 12 when the guns went off.

Overall it was a great day

East Fall Skiing under the wet guns wasn't my ROTD, Rime skiers left was, great soft bumps after 11. The longest lift lines I ever waited at K but much better after 12. Awesome October skiing day..

Good skiing yesterday and today. A little wet and manky on newly opened East Fall, but the snow quality was pretty good overall for opening weekend.

Couldn’t find a beer at the Peak Lodge

thought today was much better despite the lines. my longest wait on the singles line was 13 min which was moving much quicker than the triples. nice snow/bumps on skier's left on rime (damn wish i could rephrase that). upper double dipper was actually pretty sweet on nat snow. was one of the first down upper east fall and once was enough. probably got better once the guns were turned off. can't see how nyberg wasn't happy with the turnout and throw in all the free press, it was win-win.

Today was unreal, and the story was not rime, which indeed did have a good bump line on skiers left. The story was everything else. People were skiing EVERYTHING. I do not know if its taboo to discuss these things on this board but I come here to find out whats going on, and thats what was going on. I saw people on, Superstar, Flume, Cascade, Double dipper, Downdraft, Cascade, Royal Flush, and Highline. This is not one or two people but LOTS of people. We skied East Glade, Highline, Conclusion, and Royal flush, and it was fabulous. Good light powder, was not hitting any rocks. Would be good in midwinter let alone October. What a weekend......

Props to the beast.

Saturday was good with a nice bump line that set up on skiers left and was totally good for shredding high speed, although today was pretty epic compared to yesterday.K1 laps all day with no lines for it.POW everywhere but on the 4 open trails or whatever was "open".Hit Cascade>Flume First run then went down to the chair for the only time all day. Then hit west glade>royal flush which was pretty funnn.Back to K1 then hit up downdraft, dipper, chute, great bear, and northstar laps.Decided to call it a day after one more down downdraft>cascade>flume.Pretty good coverage with a dense heavy POW that required lots of speed but still fun and floaty.Heard there was a pretty big line at the triple?Yesterday was pretty mellow crowds wise.I figured there would be smaller lines with all the ski able snow out there, although the k1 was walk on every time...Looking to get back at it next weekend.

That looks like Ovation. If so it looks like good skiing.

Nice to see people gettin sum. Those Downdraft and Ovation pictures look sweet. Downdraft looks better than it did right after the Christmas storm last year (ask Rusty about that day  ).

So, here's the problem... There's obviously enough snow to poach many of these trails, but totally not enough for them to be opened officially for the masses. Tough call from a mountain operations/patrolling perspective.
