I just noticed the Long Trail goes up to Jay Peak. I was thinking of hopping on at Pico and walking up there. How long do you think that would take?

Of course I would take some skins with me duh

It takes about 3 hours by car from K to Jay so I would say it will take days to do it on foot or skis with skins.

Google Maps has about 1 day and 12 hours.

Ice skates or roller blades might be a better choice.

Not the long trail, but an estimated 36 hours / 107 miles on route 100.

It took me 13 days do it without any snow. (not counting my zero day at Duck Brook Shelter)

If XC skiing is more your style, you should hit up the catamount trail instead.

It also goes from Pico to Jay. You just don't have to go up and down so much.

Done much winter hiking? This has "epic fail" written all over it. Suggest you ask on boards with a bit more experience in this sort of thing.

The main issue I have with winter hiking is properly gauging the amount of layers. It can be 15 degrees outside but with a steady pace and gear I am frequently down to base layer.

Why, is it hard? I was going to pack a couple power bars just in case.

Very nice video clutch!
Can't imagine breaking trail in the winter over that distance in snow, plus the extra gear for winter camping.
