Any inside info on what happened to both lifts? What a mess that is!

Most likely no inside info here, but you're sure to get plenty of opinions stated as facts and various rumors.

When Skye was down last week, I was told by a well known ambassador that it was due to electrical problems.

Edit: KTV is saying "mechanical" problems.

Bad weekend for the Bear side: Both Bear Quad and SPE are down, and those new towers on OL look to be a disappointment. Snow is only going halfway across the trail, and to my eyes the production seems poor. In contrast, seems like they are getting great production out of the towers on Needles. Additionally, looks like they've had to cut ticket prices to deal with Bear being closed. I hope they get it all sorted out soon, or DEW tour is going to be fiasco for Killington. They are obviously scrambling, and trying to make it right. Bit surprised they haven't opened Stage 1, seems like an obvious diversion from the problems at Bear, but I don't know what sort of coverage they have from the guns.

I've been told that the problem with both lifts is electrical (not mechanical). Poma guys are here and are waiting for parts to be air freighted from SF, they should arrive today. The Bear Quad, being an older lift, may make it more difficult to get parts. File all this under the rumors that Spanky warned about!

Speculation on my part: Odd that both lifts would go down with electrical issues at the same time. Makes me wonder if there was some transient in the power line. However, one would expect other issues as well if that were the case. Pretty bad luck, regardless of the root cause.

but according to the conditions report for today even though bear is closed all day "Our groomers are looking to head to Outer Limits, Cascade, Timberline and other favorites".

seems like a waste of time and money to groom OL today :) Maybe they should spend that money on a proof reader for the conditions report.

Which would annoy you more?
Being told something unverifiable like 2 lifts are down.
Or
We are closing Bear because the Dew tour has turned Lower Wildfire into a total Cluster F...
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.

Skiers left of OL was groomed last night, perhaps in anticipation of getting the SPE repaired.

Bear Chair being an old Yan lift it is difficult to find parts for. I am supprised that parts from the Fiddle Chair wouldn't fit. They may have to be custom made...

Thank God Powdr came onto the scene to fix all of the issues left over from years of ASC neglect.

At least this didn't happen on an important holiday weekend. THAT would have been a mess.

No worries... everything should be fixed in time for the NBC camera crews next weekend -- you know, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 next Saturday, and then again on Sunday when the Patriots are playing.

It's their resort, their purchase, their lifts. The blame is theirs and theirs alone.

You're right. It's merely an unfortunate act of God.
