That is going to be brought about through technology advances that will require full participation of the population to work. Fight it all you want, but that's what's going to happen.

Regarding the jobs lost? This is going to be the reality and outcome in every single industry as the Fourth Industrial Revolution that we are just starting accelerates.

I brought up the automated fleet. That's going to gut traffic enforcement, small scale mechanics, insurance and healthcare positions due to vastly fewer accidents. Hell, even grave diggers are going to take a hit.

I suggest you pay attention to what automation and artificial intelligence is going to change in society. Hint: almost everything. The needs of human labor are going to plummet. So, that leaves two choices. Redefine what constitutes full time work and ration employment appropriately for the world population or drastically reduce world population.

20-30 years, perhaps even sooner the entire landscape of how we live is going to change. Advances in 3D printing will eliminate the need for much of our foreign trade. The factories of the future are going to require minimal people, so Trumps whole policy of building factories and hiring inner city trainees is an archaic concept and a complete waste of time and money. We won't be buying goods from China on renegotiated trade deals. We will be producing them right here via 3D printers. Many of these 3D printers in the factories will be very short lived and become obsolete for many consumer goods quite quickly. In my lifetime I bet a consumer sized affordable 3D printer becomes common place. No longer do we go to stores to buy shoes. You design what you need and create it right in your home. I like this idea. I hear so many people complain about poor fitting ski boots. Make your own designed to fit your feet! The only thing you buy are the raw materials. Don't believe me? China has already built a six story office tower utilizing 3D printing technology.

So, like I said, I think Trump is incredibly foolish in his talks on making deals and bringing jobs back. The jobs will come back, they'll just be accomplished via machines instead of human labor.

This is going to be the great challenge of the second half of my life and my son's generation. What to do we do when humans are barely needed any more to the vast majority of jobs? The challenge is going to be a political one and short of a mass reduction in population, you are looking massive increases in social programs and regulation. Free market capitalism won't go away completely, but through automation, capitalism is going to be a shell what it is today. I'm not saying I'm happy about this. However, you'd be foolish to not see what's going to happen. Writing is on the wall.

You won't be able to 3D print ski boots or shoes at home for quite awhile until the cost of the printers comes down. However, custom regular 3D printed shoes are right around the corner. 3D scanning technology built into cell phones is coming within the next couple of years. Take a picture of your foot, email it to a factory and custom shoes get produced for you. Ski boots will lag because we have such small participation globally in our sport, but I bet the technology catches up within 5-10 years tops.

No longer will Lange, Nordica etc. produce 27 different models of ski boots. Everything becomes custom. Take a picture of your foot, communicate your weight, skiing ability and desired terrain/style of skiing and exactly what you need gets produced for you. The result will likely be significant consolidation of manufacturers. Technology makes traditional competitive advantages disappear.

And while on the topic of the ski industry, what do folks think ticket sales, snowmaking and grooming looks like in 2030 or even sooner?

Does anyone think ticket windows even exist? I don't. It will all be direct to lift access via mobile apps. RFID technology will be in your phone. You literally won't be able to ski without a smart phone in your pocket.

Snowmaking will soon incorporate smart technology and be fully automated. Some areas it already is showing the early signs of this. Hook up the hoses at the start of the year and it requires 1 guy in an office to run everything and a couple of inspectors to investigate problems on hill. The guns themselves will adjust to wind and humidity conditions all on their own and rotate based upon area production. The whales probably end up going away which will suck because they're so fun to ski.

I mentioned an automated car fleet. That most certainly will extend to grooming machines in short order. Those Prinoths will employ the same technology as Roomba vacuums do today and run all on their own.

The fall out will be 90% job losses in these area. It's sad to think about, but that's just the way things are heading.

And before people call me some crazy George Jetson, remember Kodak employed 175K people in 1998. They had 85% market share on paper film. Within three years the business model was dead and they were bankrupt. They employee 6500 people today. Did anyone think in 1998 that in three years they'd never use paper film again? That's how fast we are moving and it's only going to get faster.

If you believe there aren't multiple middle-men now in your health plan, you're more mis-informed than we thought.that's not remotely what I said but the ACA DID add more paperwork, more administrative costs and another middle man that serves no purpose other than to raise costs ( oh and provide a nice national database for them to mine)
Reducing health plan administration costs is key to getting health care manageable. ya mean like when we had an 80/20 and the bill went directly to the consumer who did most of the paperwork?Of the annual total, we spend more than 25%/annum (>$200B) on admin costs. Insurance and pharma profits need careful review and reformulation.how did the ACA in ANY WAY improve that? it didn't it greatly INCREASED it...

Desperate? - Democrats Sue RNC Over Trump's "Rigged Election" Comments Alleging "Minority Voter Intimidation"
In a move that wreaks of desperation, and certainly beneath a campaign that is apparently coasting toward a 12-point blowout victory in just over a week, the DNC has sued the RNC over efforts to "ensure ballot integrity" alleging "intimidation of minority voters." Since when did working with "secretaries of states all over the country to ensure ballot integrity" become a crime? And, why exactly are democrats so fearful of any measure that attempts to ensure the integrity of our federal elections? Is it because such efforts to "ensure ballot integrity" might just prevent the massive voter fraud that we all know exists? Just a guess. Per Politico:

In a motion filed in New Jersey federal court on Wednesday, the Democratic National Committee charges that the RNC has violated the consent decree “by supporting and enabling the efforts of the Republican candidate for President, Donald J. Trump, as well as his campaign and advisors, to intimidate and discourage minority voters from voting in the 2016 Presidential Election.”

The alleged coordination, the DNC says, is a violation of a 1982 consent decree in which the RNC agreed to curb its vote watching tactics — the result of a suit Democrats filed against the RNC for allegedly intimidating minority voters at the polls during New Jersey’s 1981 gubernatorial election.

Genova quotes Trump running mate Mike Pence as saying at a town hall that the campaign and RNC “are working very very closely with state governments and secretaries of states all over the country to ensure ballot integrity,” and quoted a reporter recounting a conversation with Trump’s campaign manager in which she said said the campaign is “actively working with the national committee, the official party, and campaign lawyers to monitor precincts around the country.”

“Although certain RNC officials have attempted to distance themselves from some of the Trump campaign’s more recent statements, there is now ample evidence that Trump has enjoyed the direct and tacit support of the RNC in its ‘ballot security’ endeavors, including the RNC’s collaboration on efforts to prevent this supposed ‘rigging’ and ‘voter fraud,’” the motion reads.
The RNC denied any wrongdoing in issuing a statement saying that they "strictly abide by the consent decree."

"The RNC strictly abides by the consent decree and does not take part directly or indirectly in any efforts to prevent or remedy vote fraud. Nor do we coordinate with the Trump campaign or any other campaign or party organization in any efforts they may make in this area," a RNC spokesperson said in an emailed statement. "The RNC remains focused on getting out the vote."
While Trump pointed out "software glitches" in Texas voting machines that resulted in votes being inaccurately recorded and causing Chambers County to enact "emergency paper ballots."

Donald J. Trump

Perhaps our friends at the DNC need to be reminded of what "actual" voter intimidation looks like. Here is a perfect example of Black Panther members "monitoring" polling stations in Philadelphia. Ironically, in 2012, Romney's performance in Philadelphia drew a huge amount of suspicion when he received exactly 0 votes in 59 voting divisions within the city. In fact, the vote count within those 59 divisions was an astonishing 19,605 to 0. While no one would argue that many Philadelphia neighborhoods tend to skew democratic, it certainly seems incredibly unlikely that, out of nearly 20,000 voters, not a single person preferred Mitt Romney.

Or, perhaps this is a better example of dirty politics which we're sure Donna Brazile is looking into as we speak.

I'm mostly fascinated I see if we end up with the corrupt criminal or the self described sexual predator.

It is really hard to comprehend how we as a country narrowed our choice down to (basically) these two imbeciles.

PS. This country can't be a million years old. I thought we were founded after the dinosaurs drowned in the flood! LOL

Thinking the FBI didn't find the emails on Huma's computer, but recovered them. Huma deleted them a while ago and never professionally "bleached" like Cankle's. FBI forensics was able to easily find them in whole. Also, my guess is there was a discussion about covering up/hiding things from the FBI investigation or FBI found evidence of lies told to them during interviews.
Would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when Cankle discussed what might have been found w/ Huma. :D

You, the authors, and Trump really need to take a statistics or polling class. Oversampling is a way to reduce the margin of error in polling - i.e. it's intentional. This also isn't about public polling, but rather private polling to drive a campaigns advertisement spend, etc. C'mon. There must be something better than this.
since clearly everyone but you has this wrong, tell us why is podesta insisting on this methodology? why is he insisting on it being brought to attn by the media?

explain how oversampling of ONE side of the aisle improves " accuracy"?

explain how ""independent" voters in Tampa and Orlando are apparently more dem friendly so the report suggests filling up independent quotas in those cities first.
" improves accuracy?

explain how this: "huge variances in preference across demographics one can easily "rig" a poll by over indexing to one group vs. another. As a quick example, the ABC / WaPo poll found that Hillary enjoys a 79-point advantage over Trump with black voters. Therefore, even a small "oversample" of black voters of 5% could swing the overall poll by 3 full points. Moreover, the pollsters don't provide data on the demographic mix of their polls which makes it impossible to "fact check" the bias..." has zero relevance...

all of it looks to me like inflating the numbers for one side and making sure they are made very public via the media...
They're maximizing their media polling to drive where the campaign spends it's advertising model. Oversampling in different markets or regions provides increased confidence, via a lower margin of error, what a market or region thinks about a candidate. Oversampling might be performed as a result of initial polling or testing to gain more information about a particular group of people. It's similar to when I do testing and I pull a population, pick a sample, and identify samples outside the tolerance ... I may identify a trend or other variables which drives increased focus/attention to this one area (e.g., oversampling). Really, this is STAT101. I don't get the drama.

I understand your questions about the ABC/WaPo poll, but I don't believe that's what Podesta is speaking to (considering his e-mail is from 2008).

Irregardless, when Trump loses it won't because of some flawed media polling. He'll lose because he is Trump.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-10-2 ... s-2-points" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just yesterday we wrote about the very curious ABC / Wapo poll which seemed to show Hillary's blow-out 12-point lead from last Sunday get cut in half in a matter of just two days. But the ABC/Wapo enigma continues to grow today as their latest poll shows the presidential race has now tightened to just 2 points, which is within the margin of error. Ironically, these new results do not reflect the latest FBI bombshell as polling was concluded on October 27th and it still includes an 8-point sampling advantage for democrats.

METHODOLOGY – This ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by landline and cellular telephone Oct. 24-27, 2016, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 1,148 likely voters. Results have a margin of sampling error of 3 points, including the design effect. Partisan divisions are 37-29-29 percent, Democrats-Republicans-independents.
So what happened? For months we have argued that these goal-seeking reports (aka "Polls") can be easily manufactured to show whatever results are desired by simply "tweaking" the sample pool. WikiLeaks even exposed a handy guide 37-page poll-rigging guide on how to "include ethnic 'oversamples' as required" to manufacture the desired poll numbers. But, with today's latest ABC / Washington Post poll, the real "smoking gun" admission is revealed as the pollsters admit that the narrowing of their polling results are "not mainly about people shifting in their candidate preference" but about how their sample pool was constructed.

"Changes in the poll’s latest four nights compared with the previous four are not mainly about people shifting in their candidate preference, but about changes in who’s intending to vote."

So that's how you manufacture inane results like this:

Image

Now, while ABC / Wapo claim that the 10-point swing (in less than a week) was driven by changes in "who's intending to vote," we find it quite curious that their own data shows just a 2-point swing in people who said they were "certain to vote" on 10/23, when the poll reflected a 12-point Hillary lead, and 10/27 when the lead had collapsed to just 2 points. So, are we really expected to believe that a 2-point swing in voter intentions somehow translated to a 10-point swing in the poll results? Not likely...something tells us it had a little more to do with including "ethnic 'oversamples' as required."

Image

So, now that ABC / Wapo have effectively declared their own poll utterly useless, the question is what were their motivations for skewing their polling data? We have a couple of ideas:

Trump is simply experiencing a huge surge in momentum...seems odd to have this kind of surge on minimal news (remember the poll was taken prior to the recent FBI disclosures).
ABC / Wapo pollsters got a slap on the wrist from the Hillary campaign for getting a bit overzealous on their manufactured 12-point "lead" which could have resulted in lower voter turnout for Hillary.
ABC / Wapo reviewed early voting stats starting to come in around the country and realized that their polls were in no way reflective of reality and decided they'd rather not lose ALL credibility (though it may be a bit too late for that).
Anyway, those are a couple of our ideas...what say you?
