That has as much chance of passing as a proposed minimum age of 21 for having a cell phone.

Sad. Vermont was the last state to raise the drinking age.

Full bore fascist now.

No wonder all the kids are leaving the state.

I was thinking that too.

Why not just install the cameras and charge a 100 toll for every trip down 89?

Way Back When, Wyoming finally passed the 55 mph law and all the roads went from 70 - 75 (even on 2 lanes). We would drive our AF convoy on 90 trying not to be too obvious for speeding (60 mph). Ranchers and local business stopped using I-90 and instead used local dirt roads. Here we are on 90 doing 55 while the ranchers and others were flying down those dirt roads, sometimes moving up to 90 mph in areas. I'm sure the State Police would love the reduced rate, NOT !

Given the tolerance troopers have with the limit at 65 and most going around 80, what would a 55 limit achieve
In the first place, they don't have enuf patrol cars.

:zzz

There's already a high number of cars (usually Subarus) going 55 on the highway, often in the left lane.

Vermont would be the lowest in the US.

In NH it is dependent on the conditions, you could get a ticket for doing 65 on I 89 in a snowstorm or won't be bothered for doing 80 in a 65 if dry with light traffic.
