For those that have yet to hear, Bridgewater has declined to renew the Windsor County Sheriff's contract with the town. This + COVID has effectively eliminated the pesky speed trap . .

Please note that this is in no way an endorsement or invitation to exceed the posted 25MPH . . Use this information at your own risk.

I believe they are still patrolling Rt 100 in Plymouth.

Been wondering about the impact of Covid on that speed trap. Obviously, less traffic equals less revenue opportunities which results in less justification for their agreement. On the other hand, less traffic equals more opportunities to speed. Guess the former won out after the town evaluated the impact. Haven’t seen the sheriff lately but still slow down as before, as do most drivers going through town.

The cop has been gone since the March shutdown . . . . .. traffic(especially weekends) is now approaching pre-COVID levels, but no cop . . I know I still go slow through there, but find I am allowing an extra 5 or so MPH . .

Talk is that the town want to bump it back up to 35 MPH

But, someone in Bridgewater Corners complained about speeding and now they are talking about lowering the speed limit from 45MPH to 35 MPH in that section . .

I summarily try....to not wish ill....on anyone. Bridgewater town powers that be....and that fat sheriff cow....should all succumb to untreatable , irreversible Painful Rectal Itch.

Speed limit used to be 50 from Bridgewater to Bridgewater Corners, now 45. They should raise the limit to 35 past the closed school, no longer a school zone and why 24/7/365 other than to raise revenue!

Fake news?

I'm sure Woodstock is still trapping. And they move around.

Just remember, Woodstock literally starts at the edge of the Bridgewater village, they can easily support slowing folks down by sitting on that edge....

And Woodstock has it's own police force, not a rent a cop.

I work in Woodstock and travel there almost daily. Have been doing so for 8+ years . . . I can count on one hand with 2 fingers cut off the number of times I have seen WPD setting up a speed trap . . . . 2 of those were in the village, 1 on rte 12 leaving town towards Barnard. Zero times at the Bridgewater line or anywhere on Rte 4. I have seen them monitoring traffic near the high school, but I would not characterize it as a "speed trap" . .

Cop is usually sitting by the fire house on the east end of town. Lately he has not been there as much since the speed indicator was installed.

There is a cruiser parked in the lot sometimes and is usually empty. Must be inside enjoying a donut or 2
