wednesday 1/3 report

after 2 glorious days, the sun decided she was overworked and took the day off. a cloudy, foggy affair. temps on the warm side. thought a decent crowd. 9-1 shift.

while folks continue to moan & groan on the expansion thread, the skiing was quite good. for whatever reason, much improved over yesterday. at the bell ran a bunch at snowdon. upper bunny right was beautiful packed pow. mouse flat & fast and lower bunny another carpet. LEF firm but skied well.

mid-supe good. lots of groomer trax on preston's. lark ok (not lower). lower bitter was surprisingly good as they shut those guns off. cruise was an early rotd candidate. some guns still on it but skied in nicely. the caveat, they were making snow on GN right past the skye lark exit and those guns were very wet. we lapped it via the backdoor (snowshed crossover). snowmaking most of the length of bear claw til the viper pit. had to stay on skier's left.still not sure why they're only running a solitary gun at the top of the pit. burst good.

in addition to not being able to see, there really wasn't much to see in the NR in any case. they reopened highline w guns now blazing on the bump venue side. the skier's left was excellent. relatively unbumped. our rotd. but don't stray too far right as that was wettish and needed skiing in.

Conditions constantly change, and fast! I did Sup first after getting there from Snowshed, and thought it was great! Passed on headwall as it was in total whiteout fog. Headed to Gateway to Skyburst - great - still a hue on VP. Off to Skylark from top of SP4 through fence to bottom - thought Sup was better - lot of ice marbles on Lark. Use middle Sup couple more times to High Road and Cruise - interesting crossing over Bitter! Did not like Cruise - felt as if guns blew wet, froze overnight, then only groomed minimally leaving heavy snow, or frozen marbles. High Road was good as was Snowshed to shuttle!

yeah a member of our krewe skied cruise at the bell and said it was terrible. when we finally got to the side of the mtn later, it was nicely skied in. we told him he didn't know what he was taking about  . btw he then agreed it was good. timing is everything ...

Hi, been lurking here for quite a while, made my first visit today in 15+ years

and skied the marbles, got blasted by the wet snowmaking, and couldn’t see much in the fog, also found some of the good stuff mentioned about, probably won’t get back until you can get in the woods.

This is a very entertainingly informative forum

There was a few glue guns out there this morning! Started at Bear, had second chair which proved to be an advangae as a member from the first chair took a tumble when he hit the yellow snow. We went searching for areas where the snow guns were not running after finding numerous wet guns.Temps were marginal for making snow today, but they are trying to resurface and then move on to expansion. Overall the snow surface wasn't bad. Visiablity was flat light at best. Missed the sun by a day.

Pretty good day out there. Had been avoiding the SS headwall, but tried it late afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at how good it skied. Could have done without the packs of college kids that insist on riding and skiing much too fast and barely in control. At least they don't arrive until about 11 and quit early.

Be happy K is still running the guns. I’m at Okemo this week and the guns were shut off yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon. My report… lots of groomers and not a mogul to be found.
