The UK can at least start to try to move forward now and make progress as a society. I think this fight was a political miscalculation, not some altruistic stance, but that's just my opinion.

The UK is progressive. Declaring political stances in your email signature and flying rainbow flags is not progressive anymore. That is gaslighting, tired, old, immature sh*t from 2016 that earns nothing but more Donald Trump at this point. I'm glad to see a world leader turning the corner and making progress after much stagnation. I expect a lot of normal people to still suffer from the 'group think' that has taken place over the last decade, but they are smart enough to progress.

Why do you care what sex somebody considers themselves? I agree that biological males should not be playing in girls sports, but outside of that who gives a sh*t what someone calls themselves? What effect does it have on your life?

Yeah my first thought on seeing this thread was, who cares? Seems to me that arguing over who can use what bathroom or who can play on which kids sports team is one of the biggest wastes of time in modern society.

I believe the issue in the case itself had to deal with gender discrimination laws and their application to people who were not born as female. It strikes me as a waste of time on that count, also. If we shouldn't discriminate against someone because they're female, shouldn't we also not discriminate against someone because they are transgender? The better approach to this would have been what our Supreme Court did in getting rid of the use of quotas altogether as a means to prevent discrimination, and/or to make the law neutral in saying you can't discriminate against someone based on their gender.

the reason to care is because theyre not gonna stop with trans people when it comes to policing and enforcing gender 'norms.' it took only three years for the women in iran to go from jeans and mini skirts to burqas. i was attacked in a bathroom back in 2013 for being perceived as trans. this just makes life more dangerous for trans, queer, and gender nonconforming people. next person who tries that sh*t on me will be going out in a body bag.
