With all due respect to Mr. Nyberg (little is due) that was a decision made in Utah just before the acquisition, not actually made by Chris himself. According to Steve Selbo, Powdr only discovered the number of passes just before closing, thinking up 'til then that there were only the original 37 or so passes.

He got more money from UT than the current administration - that's for sure.

NO cap projects since he left.

You are giving Mike credit for the Peak Lodge instead of Nyberg? I might credit him with cutting the initially proposed 3rd story from the Peak Lodge, but that is about it.

Yeah especially the low cost snow guns????

Was that a key factor in making the SS Glacier (not yet melting!) economically feasible? Not my area of expertise but the snow-making investment, while not sexy, does pay some dividends. I know we all want the exciting stuff but realistically is the next investment just upgrading the lifts?

Does Kton need to do that so they don't go all "sugarloaf" on us someday soon?

The heated gondola maze is a joke. When I was 11 I built a patio at my grandparents house with a slight angle built into it for drainage purposes. Whatever genius engineer designed that made it perfectly flat and now doesn't drain and is a mess.

Nyberg:
Slashed full time staff
Skyepeak Express
Closed Snowshed Crossover
Stash
Removed South Ridge Triple
Removed Devils Fiddle
Snowshed Magic Carpet
Peak Lodge
UBars
Ended BMMC
Peak Walkway
Shorter hours (8:30 opening)
Reduced crowding

Solimano:
Resurrected BMMC
Improved snow making
Extended season

I don't think it is a case of Mike not being able to get money out of Utah; rather it is a case of the Park City debacle sucking the life (and the cash/credit worthiness) out of POWDR. My guess is what limited capital expenditures POWDR makes this year will go to Copper; JC's newer, shinier, bauble; a bit closer to home. The extensive snow making improvements done this year were an aberration: more the result of POWDR having the free cash to take advantage of an extraordinary trade in opportunity (and buy equipment at substantial discount), rather than a solid financial commitment.

To his credit, Mike has done a lot with what little POWDR has given him.

Imagine how nice Killington would be if it had remained a stand alone mountain and profits were reinvested. The way I understand it is a lot of the prime real estate has been sold off and the mountain will never realize the profits if it's developed. At least they're back to having the longest season reasonably possible. Hopefully the people in control will act in the best interest of Killington being a skiers mountain.

Did not Nyberg also kinda KILL the MOGUL challenge by having Vt. State Police patrol property nearby Bear Mountain Lodge and restrict any drinking of alcohol outside the lodge?

Was it Nyberg that severely diminished the turnout by charging for parking in Bear Mountain Lodge and forbidding any group tables, etc. from being erected at Bear Base AND restricting all alcoholic beverage consumption to drinking INSIDE the bar or in restricted zones on the deck (after purchasing beverages exclusively from the bar at Bear base?

Yeah, and the peak lodge was supposed to have a 3rd floor.

Just sayin'. IIRC, it was built with the intention of having a roof over it, so pitch wasn't much of a concern at the time. Not an engineering oversight...but likely an oversight when the decision to push off construction of the roof was made.
