Could be. Just talked to tall Steve. May have convinced him to come to K this weekend... If he can rally a travelling partner.

If I lived closer, I would have carpooled with him. I hate driving solo in this stuff..... although I've done it many times it's just exhausting.

Pretty good first hand account, very detailed. I felt VERY bad about telling you that you needed to go back, but didn't want to see you go through the cheese grater at the bottom without a fight. Agreed with the lesson learned, never go anywhere that you aren't willing to hike back up. I most certainly wouldn't have made it back with alpine boots as your AT boots (Vibram soles) probably saved your life.....

We now have rule #3, don't follow SC. VERY glad you made it out of there with only a tale.....

B)

Edit: you can ask RustyK, I was chanting in a low voice as we watched, "Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall, don't fall......"

I think he is lonely on the Left Coast and misses everyone. Too many good times and Pork Products to just leave behind.

For some reason, this popped up in one of my FB feeds.

I can't believe this was 14+ years ago! Still a great read and I still tell this story from time to time. What a memory!

For the record, I've been in a few moments like this in WA in the past decade+...without a cable...sh*t is scary out here

Off the record, it iz pozzeebule....

Must be TBT on the Kzone.

My first trip to Europe. Great time. 14 years? Geez.

Headed back to France next year to be a scavenger again!

Got medicated and drunk in Brixen. Woke up 300 km away in Milan in a swanky hotel I'd never seen before. :)

Vids from that trip can be found here...

Good times and fun videos!

Those runs in Monte Cristalo were performed by Mtn Man under Stormy medication  . I felt like I was in a slow motion foggy dream the whole day, not a care in the world as things sloughed and avied around me...

I recall a pretty good hotel room party with half of the AE ski club in one room. I think Stormy almost ate a couple batteries that evening since they were put in his wine glass...then the gourd in the bidet...

Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, then overwhelm you with their experience.
