setting the guns up now. looks like their going to start with Phazers at least at the top. They are moving them into position and appear to be wired.

Also a couple Phazers moved into position on Rime next to the K guns, that tells you that they see better than marginal conditions at night for the next few days. Should be a great opening.

Or they don’t want to use old ass equipment that costs so much more in electric costs to put out the same product?

They don't put out the same product in high wet bulb (ie early season) conditions, the flow numbers aren't even close. They won't use them unless it's pretty dry/cold. But the more they can get away using them means more equipment can be run meaning a higher conversion rate overall.

Snow-forecast has wet bulb of 20 and colder happening. Flashlights were seen at 10pm in North Ridge. We might see phazers in the am.

If they do the same thing, why do they have 2 kinds of guns set out but seem to be only using phazers today?

Because they are new and more efficient. Still make snow just like any others, just cheaper to use

At a marginal 22-26 wet bulb there is no comparison to the amount of water the K gun converts over the HKD. The caveat is at huge air consumption

They definitely don't do the same thing, but at the same time they do. If they wanted to make snow with a lot of air, they can do it with the K3000 Guns way better than the HKD products in marginal wet bulb. But as Newpy says then they are able to run way less equipment with an ideal wet bulb last night. I appears that they have Rime and Reason and 2/3 of Superstar running that's pretty good for night 1.

my little mole hill in south central PA uses the HKD stuff in "marginal" temps all of the time. That being said, when it gets above 28 wet bulb they are super wet.

We've all skied under wet guns at Killington in "cold enough" temps though. Not an exact science...

Almost every other area in New England has been using HKD equipment for years now. About time Killington gives them a try

The Phazers can do up to 50 gpm. The closest gun to a K3000 is the Ratnik baby snow giant, which can do 60 gpm. They're pretty close. The larger HKD impulse guns can go up to 80 gpm.

I’ve only built and installed snowmaking and run mountain operations and consulted for 25+ years now. It’s just fun to come on here and poke the bear at everyone that knows everything.

It’s snowmaking. It’s air and water. Make snow as efficient as possible as much as you can. It’s not rocket science but everyone thinks it is

I think we all assume they are using Phazors since that is what they have used in the past but perhaps they are impulse guns like they use at the bottom of Superstar.
