I personally love this: http://shop.hesscollection.com/ArtezinCharbono

2007 Artezin
Charbono, Napa Valley

This wine is featured in this months Hess Collector's Club - Rare Reds Shipment.

Vintage: 2007
Wine Style: Red Wine
Varietal Composition:
91% Charbono
9% Zinfandel
Appellation: Napa Valley, California
Harvest Date: November 2, 2007
Acid: 0.55g/100mL
PH: 3.89
Barrel Aging:
100% French Oak, 1-2 years old
Bottling Date: January 26, 2009
Alcohol %: 13.2

Charbono originally hails from the Savoie region in the French Alps, where it is now almost extinct. Mystery surrounds Charbono—it was once thought to be the same as Dolcetto from Piedmont, which was later proven to be false. In California, only 85 acres remain, more than half in the north end of Napa Valley. A late season variety, it is especially important for Charbono to achieve physiological maturity to yield rich wines with round tannins. The heat of Napa Valley’s Calistoga region is ideal for Charbono. This Charbono vineyard is one of Napa Valley’s hidden treasures. Planted in the 1940’s shortly after the repeal of Prohibition, it became one of the mainstay vineyards for the famous Inglenook Charbonos. It has survived the test of time and is truly one of Napa’s heirloom sites. It still is farmed by the second generation son of the family, who takes great pride in farming the ranch using minimal input. We are very fortunate to receive these exotic grapes to create this wine.

Villa Puccini Toscana is one of my daily drinkers. Very nice.
Similiar to a Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva at half the price.

Try Bottles and Cases, El Jamon "tempranillo" from Spain, not expensive good wine.

Whitehall Lane Merlot. Good at about $25 - $35 per bottle depending on where you find it.

Based on the price point, you may want to give this a try vs. Merlot....
Big House Red - Blend - Syrah, Petite Sirah, Malbec, Petite Verdot, etc.... Always < $10/bottle.
... and you don't even need a cork screw... it's a screw cap ( ok, stelvin cap if you want to
be a snob )...
Going where the wind don't blow so strange. Maybe on some high cold mountain range.

It'll still taste like sugar water.
