Re: Stowe Announces Pay Parking Plan
It sounds like they have traffic problems on weekends. I don't see this happening at K but cost for everything will go up with 8.5% inflation.
I get all the news I need from the weather report

Been spreading for a while now. I suspect K will expand paid/preferred parking at K1 when the new lodge starts operating.PinnacleJim wrote: ↑Apr 19th, '22, 07:19 Hope this doesn't spread.

Re: Stowe Announces Pay Parking Plan
Stowe has a shortage of parking and major traffic issues. K doesn't have that.

Re: Stowe Announces Pay Parking Plan
Stowe has always had some level of traffic issues on busiest of days. This has certainly worsened, but what I am not clear on is covid causing solo drives vs more skier visits. I am sure some combo, but would be interested to know Stowe skier visits this year vs prior.
Also, Stowe has one road, one lane each way. Major bottleneck. Killington is lucky to have multiple access routes with Skyship, Bear, East Mtn road, and main access road. And even on the main access road, there are multiple parking options limiting delays in moving traffic trough.

Re: Stowe Announces Pay Parking Plan
Stowes problem is a single access point, one way in/out.... I could see this happening at K when the village is built as a lot of parking will be pushed downhill.
Re: Stowe Announces Pay Parking Plan
I don't see Skyeship, Bear, or Vale ever being anything but free. I think at the village, it'll be like Stratton where you pretty much have to pay or take a shuttle. K1 I'm not sure about.
Re: Stowe Announces Pay Parking Plan
This sucks but makes sense, vast majority of folks come south from Waterbury up to Stowe from 89, access road is always a sh*t show. Stowe also has less parking compared to K.
Killington may expand more preferred parking around k1 and lower snowshed/ram. Skyeship and Bear will remain free for the foreseeable future.

Re: Stowe Announces Pay Parking Plan
Stowe is an awesome mountain with incredible side country that gets more snow than K. The company that is in charge sucks.
