After 75 and in light traffic they are useless. You gonna get caught.
I have found the basic rules work most of the time, and have not had a ticket since. City streets, 5 MPH over MAX. School zone, slower. State roads, 2 lanes or 4, 10 MPH MAX. Highways you can get away with 10 to 15, but usually just shy of the 15. So, in the 65 zone, keep it around 78 or so. They may look, but have never chased me.
AND, I don't have to put up with that stupid detector going off because someone has an alarm or someoe else uses laser technology for god only knows what.

Yeah, pretty much stick with the same philosophy, one exception, I will go faster on a 65, it it's straight and there's nowhere for smokey to hide. Haven't had a speeding ticket in at least 20 yearsDr. NO wrote:After 75 and in light traffic they are useless. You gonna get caught.

I have a Passport 8500 X50...saved my ass many time when I am cruising up to VT.
This thing can detect radar up to a mile away and over hills and what not. Had the detector go off many times and come up on a cop a little ways up.
Not being a wise guy, serious question. How many times does it go off and there is no cop?SPORE wrote:You couldn't be more wrong.Dr. NO wrote:After 75 and in light traffic they are useless. You gonna get caught.

Escort and Beltronics are owned by the same company, their detectors are nearly identical.Bubba wrote:I use a BEL. It's good as well.
Also, since vt staties mainly use k and ka band, you can detect them well over a mile away, even when they are moving in the opposite direction. Trust me, they are worth their weight in gold.
It does happen occasionally, one reason for this is because many luxury suv's that have special cruise control things use x band to judge distances. The way to avoid this is to turn x band off since x band is pretty much obsolete today. Also around town, x band is used in automatic doors, so I turn my x band off around town also.andyzee wrote:Not being a wise guy, serious question. The Escort I have doesn't error that often at all. I would say maybe 1 time the entire drive from New Haven, CT to Killington. Driving up I-91.andyzee wrote:Not being a wise guy, serious question.
