Lodging near Hunter

Post by RobC »

I have a Business trip to Norther Jersey in a few weeks and was considering driving up to Hunter or Windham for some skiing the following day.

Can anyone recommend the closest "decent" hotel to these areas, preferwably one with a "decent" resteraunt nearby?

I woukd pretty much be driving to the Mtn's after work and skiing the following day.

Depending on where you are going to be in Northern NJ, it's not a long drive to day trip.

If DMC or Eski do not answer you readily, try posting this question at www.alpinezone.com. There are few Hunter people there.

I understand that the new hotel operated by Hunter is supposed to be very nice.

I was commuting from Suffern to Hunter every day for about a month. Took about 80-90 minutes.

I figured I would try to get as close to the mtn as possible after work and then crash there overnight to avoid driving in the am.

The Kaatskill Hotel is located ON the mountain (ski in/out), nice place including restaraunt, pool, spa and all the extras ... also the Liftside Condos are available

All of the Hunter area hotels saw their heyday back in the 70's. If 2 hours from Jersey is too much for you for a day trip, you might want to check out some chain hotels in Kingston or Saugerties that are right off of the Thruway.

The ride to Hunter is not bad....

With that said, if you really want to make it an overnight trip, the liftside condos are very nice, and the new hotel is supposed to be nice.
