maybe some of you assholes with the 2394230498 cars behind you should pull over every once and a while and let them by if they're such an issue...

In many states, Wyoming for instance, if you have more than a specified number of cars behind you, you are required to pull over to allow them to pass.
Of course, if you did that in Vermont, you would never be able to pull out again while in ski traffic.

A lot of times when you cut off rt 103 in shrewsbury by the whistle stop to get to the mountain passed the hospital there has been a good amount of cops hidden a long the way...usually right after suns market.

my house is across the street from the whistle stop on the road to rutland airport. shameless plug: whistle stop has the biggest omelets and nicest wait staff. go there.

is sun market ever open? just kidding. (they don’t open until late morning). try their homemade egg roles. but be aware they don’t make/sell coffee.

also, i always thought our house was in east clarendon, but never found out for sure. shrewsbury you say? interesting.

anyway, back to the point, i've been driving the back way, as you described, past the hospital, for a few years. i never used to see cops. this season they are out hunting everyday. two spots they like to post up on: (1) the farm with the animals crossing sign, and (2) the straightaway where you come down the hills past the quasi-main intersection. other than that, your golden. speed away and watch out for little kids waiting for the schoolbus. please. thanks.

Heard good and bad about Whistle Stop. I have always had good food there. Just don't get in much. Definitely EAST Clarendon. If you look at the papers there they have info regarding trains stopping there, in Clarendon. Just don't understand how we are part of Rutland, Clarendon has the town hall but North Clarendon has the zip code and post office. Go Figure.

BTW, I am in Clarendon near the town hall. Come on down and we can go fishin in Otter Creek or swimming in Mill River sometime. Shrimp on the barbie and beer in the cooler!

Was that the blonde State Trooper?
nope, brunette Sherrif short and bitchy....
BITCH that got you is Deputy Tabitha Manley, wife of Assistant Windsor County sherrif, Mike Manley. Rumor is, she hates skiers/ boarders and will stop a car with a roof rack or box and dream something up. Also, word is that she and hubby have a contest each day to see who can write the most $$$$. If you get a ticket for exceeding the posted limit, ask to see the radar gun. Windsor Cty. sherrifs use old guns that do not have a time and date on the read-out. Don't mention the time/date issue to her or she will call for back-up with the sniffer dogs, especially if you look under age 30. They clock one car early in the day and don't erase the reading.Go to court and it will get thrown out, unless you get Judge Rita Flynn- Villa. I researched the court docket, and made sure I got another judge. Took about a year but was worth it.

Way too many places to remember where cops might be and things to do or not to do. Seems easier just to watch the speed limit!

I can just imagine saying to a cop "Can I please see the radar gun you used?"

That would go over well.

"Step out of the car, boy!"

By the way, you have a right to request that as well as the date and time the radar gun way last calibrated. If they don't give the information to you or the radar gun has not been calibrated to the manufacturer's specs, there are legal grounds for the ticket to be thrown out. All of this information is available on-line from many of the radar detector manufacturer websites.

i believe there is a speed trap by a mobil station in Tyson on route 100 between Killington and Okemo. just before the station, there is a side road that is slightly down hill where I have seen patrol cars hiding.

I got nailed there by a cop with his lights flashing, going the opposite direction who turned around and followed me. silly me, I pulled over thinking he was in a hurry to get to a real emergency and he gives me a ticket for doing the arbitrary and ambiguous "51 in a 35 zone".

another time, I spotted a patrol car hidden at the bottom of a road at that spot waiting to pull people over. sure enough, caught a unhappy out of state minivan.

another spot to watch out for is the stretch on i91 somewhere between exit 2 and 4. it;s down hill and easy to accelerate past the speed limit. i think there is a parking area along there. of course I got caught doing
another arbitrary and ambiguous "76 in a 65 zone". for 1 mile.....

be careful! and good luck...[/u]

Driving back today:
Cop right by the gas station on 100 about 5 miles from rt 4. Luckily there was a car in front of me keeping me only 5 above the limit. This cop wasn't shooting at all.

Cop by the Pasta Pot (that failed business on rt 4) just chillin in the parking lot. He wasn't shooting either.

Cop in median of i-91 around exit 2. Got lit up with laser. Luckily I was getting off to stop at the Vermont Country Deli.

Last year a cop was shooting laser from a hill or something off to the right of i-91 south around exit 1-2. My brother was driving our Excursion at the time at 85 or so. Laser went off, he smashed on the brakes, didn't signal for the lane change, expecting to get raped by the cop. He pulled over the Yukon behind us.

Used to set cruise at 25 and wave to the sheriff as I used to cruise by him when I used to go the route 4 way through all the small towns.

Then saw another cop today in CT on route 2 in front of the police barracks. Slowed down from 110, luckily he wasn't shooting.

Most of those were from today. I don't drive fast because I like getting somewhere sooner. I drive fast because it's fun as hell to me. My Escort Passport 8500x50 has saved my ass many times. Get a detector fellas.

a better question - has it saved you from getting one ticket? between fines and insurance, the thing pays for itself after the first ticket.

in my case, my detector has just made me paranoid.. i don't drive any faster than i did before I had it.. I probably have been driving slower.

A detector gives a lot of people a false sense of security. I drive smart though. Don't go above the limit in a small town obviously, stay 5-10 over on roads like 100 and 103, but again be careful in small towns, use your eyes and check for cops. I look miles ahead for cops all the time.

I'm only 17 and I've been driving since Oct of 2005 so I've been driving for a year and a half. Never been pulled over, no tickets, and no accidents. Knock on wood. You have to be cautious of other people on the road too. Yesterday on my drive back from K, the detector only went off like once or twice. I think that's good actually because I had already seen the cops and was already slowing down. If he was shooting, I probably would have been caught because he would know I was 10 above, etc.

Or if I wouldn't have seen the cop on route 2 and if I passed him even at 110 and he wasn't shooting, he would have known that I was driving way too fast. I saw him way before I got to him and ended up passing him at 65.

Sorry if that's not fully readable, I just woke up.

Exactly my experience. Now I just keep it within 5-10 and my eyes open. Speed limit in known speed traps. No tickets and a lot less stress driving.
