i think bump skiing may be a more 'specialized' skill. all recreational skiers need to make some sort of slalom or gs turn.

maybe it's not relevant, but when there's a bump competition on ol, to me it appears many of the competitors are sideslippping the upper of part of ol (usually groomed) to get to the course. not sure why they do that ...

Pigeon holing yourself as a skier is one of the worst things you can do as a skier or boarder, even at the elite level.
If you're talking about being a world class bumper and being able to do gates decent - then yeah fine, that works. You cannot be world class at both.

Yes - I've seen that too. I've always assumed it was to get to the course with minimal effort.

OK, so it's a joke answer. I can deal with that.
No joke......gay.
What does "gay" mean in this context?
Weak or lame.
Oh, now I see. It all makes sense.

Highway Star = gay.

See you on Royal Flush next week end then?

I think all this translates to "If you don't ski like Highway Star, you're gay"

i've thought that also. but i've never noticed racers on highline getting to the course by sideslipping their way down.

Who is better?

Can a world class mogul skier cross over to a Slalom course and perform on a world class level easily?

Or is it easier for a world class Slalom skier to perform on a bump course and perform on a world class level?
Interesting that you posted that today...yesterday I watched J-4 and J-5 kids who were ripping it up running gates have a hard time on a mogul course.

OK, lets turn it around:

Do you think M4 and M5 or F4 and F5's would have trouble with a Slalom course for J4 and J5s?

Weak or lame.
Michael: No, that is the fun of this place. I call everybody "faggy." Why would anyone find that offensive?

Toby: Okay, I think Oscar would just like if you used "lame" or something like that.

Michael: That's what "faggy" means.

Toby: No, not really.

Toby: Apparently, you called Oscar faggy.

Michael: Yeah.

Toby: For liking the move "Shakespeare in Love" more than an action movie.

Michael: It wasn't just an action move, it was "Die Hard."

Toby: All, all right, Michael, but Oscar's really gay.

Michael: Exactly.

Toby: I mean for real.

Michael: Yeah, I know.

Toby: No, he's attracted to other men.

Michael: Okay, little too far. Crossed the line.

Toby: Okay, I am telling you, Oscar is an actual homosexual.

(Michael stares at Toby)

Toby: Yeah, he told me this morning. And obviously he hopes he can count on your discretion.

Michael: I would've never called him that if I knew. You don't...you don't call retarded people retards. It's bad taste. You call your friends retards when they're acting retarded. And I consider Oscar a friend.

I have no idea what that means, but most "Kids" if that is what you are referring to WOULD go through a transition period from one to the other as these days, they start as racers or freestylers and get involved in a program. We had a couple racers in a bump clinic a few years back. Big differences in stance and balance.

I only know enough to make an ass out of myself and say they're not world class
