Stolen Poles!
I know that theft is pretty common at ski areas, but in twenty years, I've never had a problem. I always lock my skis and loop the poles over the top. I'd like to thank the ass hat who stole my girlfriends poles on 3/18/07 in front of K1 Lodge. While her skis were locked up, I've never had to really strap down the poles with the cable lock. Ironically, on 3/14, I actually broke a pole and went down to the rental shop and the guy there was really cool and let me borrow a pair for the rest of the day (I left my spare in the hotel). Well once I explained the situation to them, they were more than understanding and let me borrow another pair for the day.
From now on...we'll wrap the cable lock tightly around the pole shafts, since I can't think of a better way to secure them.
If you happen to see someone with a 44cm set of blue poles from Vector (or Dynastar I really don't recall), ask them where they got them...
Thanks

Re: Stolen Poles!
I feel your pain! My custom cut Kerma poles were stolen last year at Sunapee. I went to the Lodge for 5 minutes so my granddaughter could get her sweatshirt. They were not new but when they were they cost me $140.00. I loved those poles. I'll never buy poles worth that much again until they add a security feature.rootdkj wrote:I know that theft is pretty common at ski areas, but in twenty years, I've never had a problem. Some piece of Sh!t stole my poles at sunday river at the start of the season. They were nice carbon poles that I got as a gift. They didnt take my poles by mistake either cause there were no poles left near my skis when I went back outside.
Well when I came in for lunch after skiing all morning without poles I combed the racks. Sure enough my poles which are clearly marked as mine turned up next to someone's skis off on their own. Safe to say I realligned their bindings for them with my ski boots! Don't think they were skiing much that afternoon.

What you should have done was to go get security, and wait somewhere nearby for the thief to come out and get him busted.reganized wrote:Well when I came in for lunch after skiing all morning without poles I combed the racks. Not to take anything away from the fact that you were stolen from, and that just isn't right, but I think there's too much value placed upon poles. When is a set of poles really worth $140? I recently made the switch to carbon poles after getting sick of bending the hell out of a few aluminum pairs a season. but I spent $20 on them at a yard sale... If someone swipes them I'm not going to get too irrate. And many times the rental shop will just give you a pair. To me they're just poles. I can kind of understand for racers how a pole can affect your skiing, but hell if they need that bend in them I've got 4 or 5 pairs lying around that would be perfect. I just don't think going all out on a nice set of poles will make me a better skier.

good
Kcowboys new poles were gone the 1st day at Bear. I doubt anyone will steal my skiis-no one knows what they are-but I do wrap my crappy ski lock around my graphite poles...not that any wire clippers won't do the trick-but want them to work at it for a few seconds.reganized wrote:Some piece of Sh!t stole my poles at sunday river at the start of the season.
