I plan on driving to K tomorrow morning from SECT. Leaving around 4:30 with my AWD BMW with Blizzaks. Hope it's not too bad. Just can't pass up this storm in mid-April!!

Pretty much every brook, stream and river here is nearing or above flood stage......going to be fun trying to drive around with half the roads closed.

We made it!

Post by G-smashed »

Left K around 3:00 and had a hairy ride through the pass to Rutland. From there down to Albany just slushy accumulations but spinouts everywhere. We weven had time to hit the Gilded Otter in New Paltz for dinner and a growler to go. I've had much worse trips than this one until we got home to NJ. We've had 5 1/2" of r*in here so far and there's flooding and roads closed everywhere. We may not be able to get to work tomorrow after all of this because of the flooding. I sure hope it's all snow there!

Glad you made it home safe.

pulled out of kbl around 1:30. ride to vegas was pretty hairy. by the time we hit sugar & spice pretty much all r*in. the limited access part of 7, all snow/sleet. single lane and had to stay in the path. all r*in in bennington. more snow/sleet on rt 22 through peterburgh. then smooth sailing but wet with hydroplaning being the concern on the taconic. overall maybe 45 min longer to the city. i've had much tougher drives.

i wouldnt advise driving

you f*** jersey and masshole drivers think you know how to drive. I live in Maine and get the hairiest of conditions, took me over 6 hours to make a typical 4:15 hour drive to second home up here on the access rd. the conditions are NOT normal winter driving conditions, it was 20-25 mph on rt. 89 due to slush over what was similar to an ice skating rink. dont go anywhere if you dont have to for a day.

Left Killington at 3:30. The pass was horrible, G-Smashed was right, spinouts everywhere. Passing the Rockwell Museum, the conditions improved dramatically. 1 1/2 hours later, I made it to the Northway.
r*in/Snow line was at Saratoga Springs. Approaching NYC I tuned in 1010 and got the poop on road closures. LOTS of them Sprain, Hutch, HRD, SawMill, Rte 17, and the list goes on. Took Palisades to GWB to LI and home. Total trip = 8 hours. Normal = 6 hours. But the epic conditions on the Friday the 13th storm were worth it!!

Perhaps you should learn to drive rather than display your jealousy of people that can drive.
Being exposed to the hairiest conditions doesn't make you competent.

access road was fine shortly after the initial post was made, and i just got back home after working all night. and whatever teakettle88 says about "normal winter driving conditions" is all bs...drive slow, like its winter...

Maine??!! Ain't nothing to hit up there except the occasional moose. Talk to me after you've spent time dodging taxis and pedestrians in NYC on a motorcycle. In the snow.

left killington about 1PM yesterday. Not a bad ride home until I hit princeton . streams were flooding. This am in jersey is not good. Schools closed due to flooding. It is now snowing in Marlton. Route 70, 73 , 38 closed. Homes in Medford where horrible flooding occured a few years ago are on alert to be evacuated. acting givernor has activated the national guard baromeric pressure in philadelphia equal to a cat 2 hurricane
