According to mapquest it's 8 hours and 440 miles from my house. However, since it takes us the mininum of 5 hours to get to K, and that's half the distance, I would estimate closer to 9 hours.Big Bob wrote:3 hours from my house, how about yours? Ty, the last thing you want to do is traveling along the coast on Memorial Day weekend. That trip will probably take you closer to 12 if mapquest directed you via I95/I91/I84/I90/I290/I495/I95 route I would suspect it did. All those routes will be loaded with "beach" traffic heading for the coast.tyrolean_skier wrote:According to mapquest it's 8 hours and 440 miles from my house. I never met a bottle of Patron I did not like except for an empty one with no backup.

The 8 hours is the amount of time you might spend getting through the toll booth on I-95 in NH this weekendtyrolean_skier wrote:According to mapquest it's 8 hours and 440 miles from my house. Getting to the Loaf though has to be one of the coolest drives. Basically drive along through the middle of nowhere and all of the sudden out of nowhere, you round this corner and you basically have the exact view you see in the picture in this thread! And the Loaf is one really, big, impressive looking mountain

it could be
if you moved

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

The Hampton Toll traffic jam isn't as bad now that New Hampshire has EZ Pass. That's my commute. Last summer, I only took back roads a few times on Fridays.DrJeff wrote:The 8 hours is the amount of time you might spend getting through the toll booth on I-95 in NH this weekendtyrolean_skier wrote:According to mapquest it's 8 hours and 440 miles from my house. Maine Turnpike at 80 mph up to Augusta/Rt 27 (110 miles) and bypass downtown Farmington, Sugarloaf is sub-3 hours from my house. It really sucked the two times we were there this year midweek. The natural snow terrain was wind-scoured down to rocks and stumps. They hadn't made much snow because of their austerity budget. Believe it or not, Killington was much better. After they change owners, I may give them another try.

loaf love
"Oh sh*t Corner".. love the loaf for the challenging terrain, long trails, more snow, and the snowfields. gotta love the above tree line experience in the east.Geoff wrote: Getting to the Loaf though has to be one of the coolest drives. Oh My Gosh Corner. I go up the pike to Portland, get off onto I-295 to Augusta, then get off at Waterville , go thru Noriggwock, Madison, Anson, New Portland and end up in Kingfield, about 1 hour 5 minuts on some decent 2 lanes with little traffic and no Vt state police at every turn!
