yey - big slide and brothers perfect fall hike. its not that big of a deal though--one of the easier high peaks- if you are coming up here this weekend, you would be wise to attend the 50-day party at lisa g's --NY premiere of meatheads wanderland.

you are probably going to be lame and not stay overnight though.

I walk up to the garden parking lot every AM. You can always park in the keene valley lot next to the keene valley grocery store or the roostercomb parking lot just before you get into town. Thats what i would do rather than take that silly shuttle filled with smelly sweaty people.

I be back, perhaps in 2 weeks. So far did Algonquin and Big Slide, any suggestions for future hikes? I'm thinking Gothic or Giant

Had a nice walk up Roostercomb on Sunday. Gorgeous Day! Bright sunshine and the foliage was outstanding. If you want to take an easy hike, Roostercomb is fun. The view is pretty cool too! :D

Well, we did the hike and it was long and strong. It took 12 hrs total to do all 3 peaks, but we were slowed when someone in our group injured her arm when she slipped on the side of a rock wall. She didn't make Gothics, but some of us did. Turns out she fractured her arm! she was a real trooper!
Anyway, this is a long hike with some very tricky climbing. give yourself plenty of time, and take lots of water. The views are unbelievable and on Gothics, they are the best I have seen! Pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/davemrg

Nice! Thanks. Do you think it would be any easier just doing Gothic? Most likely we'll be up there next week again, unless ofcourse it snows. :)

The easiest way is from the Ausable Club, but it's still 10.8 miles round trip and 3500 ft of climbing-most of it in 2.5 miles. There is a lot of rock scrambling and ladders. Pretty cool stuff. And looking at the weather it just might snow by the weekend!!

Now that sounds good! Thanks, guess I'll be doing that one next week. Maybe I'll bring my skis just in case ;)
