If the PDF document is unusable for online viewing why even have it? Printing the document would only make it worse. What is the target for this document?spinmaster wrote:The Interactive Trail Map provides a higher resolution.Gangsta Rider wrote:http://www.killington.com/pdf/W07-08_Tr ... -front.pdf

Well they deleted Pipeline from the map, which was good for safety, but they have snowguns set up on it right now.
Upper Royal flush doesn't have snowmaking, but MTS does, and is labled it doesn't...
I still dont understand what they are showing on the map year after year, with the "easier" Great Eastern and the blue Great Eastern.... They show it twice... They show the loop that goes under the gondola and comes back again, then they have the harder Great Eastern labled green again, and as the official Great Eastern, but then they have the blue Great Eastern way over between Great Eastern and Home Stretch... Unless Im missing something, they keep on messing this part up.
There are still some mistakes in the close ups of K peak or Skye Peak, but they are better then they were, although they no longer show which trails have snowmaking...

Spin, I know its late for this years map, but why doesn't Killington offer better information on trail difficulty?
Beginers who haven't been on a trail before, or people that haven't skied here before, can't tell the difference in difficulty between Snowshed and the steeper portions on Great Northern. I have seen many shaky snowplowers on GN having real trouble, and the weaving of faster skiers just makes it worse for them.
Wouldn't it make sense to do as some other mountains do and have a blue-green for sections of GN and other steeper than average greens, and blue-black for steeper blues like the first pitch on Skyeburst?

The JPEG here http://www.killington.com/images/07-08_Trail_Guide.jpg is readable, and once they update it for this season, just go into the media room area and click images for stories, it usually has a high(ish) res image of the trail map.
Now, for problems with the map:
How exactly did Valley Plunge regain snowmaking, because unless you did some major overhaul, that hasn't been mentioned, there is no way those pipes work.
You labeled Powerline as Pipeline on the Killington Peak inset section of the map.
I can still see the outlines of the old trails on Sunrise....

I dont think Valley Plunge ever lost snowmaking, that was just an error made in the past... I dont think theres any reason to assume that the pipes dont work... They in the past just gave up wanting to make snow on it, as it was low elevation, and wasn't neccesary for anything... Kinda like they have been know for not making snow on Devils Fiddle, and people might think thats because the pipes dont work, yet they made snow on it 2 seasons ago... People might think the same for lower ovation, yet the pipes worked 5-7 years ago when they had made snow on it. Same goes for Conclusion, they made snow on it 3-5 years ago. Same for Upper Dream Maker, made snow on that one 3-6 years ago. Of course I guess things could change from 5 years ago, but I think that they just had to make tough choices, and given the amount of money they had for snowmaking, they over the years decided that these certain trails weren't as important as the rest, and had to cut them. All of those pipes might be in a working condition, along with many others that haven't been used recently, like Lower Pipe Dream, Touchdown, Lower Juggernaut, Idler, Vertigo, and more...millerm277 wrote:The JPEG here http://www.killington.com/images/07-08_Trail_Guide.jpg is readable, and once they update it for this season, just go into the media room area and click images for stories, it usually has a high(ish) res image of the trail map.

This summer K was busy replacing pipes at K, in very random places... Just randomly replacing pipes on Gateway, Skye Lark, Snowshed, and yesterday when I hiked up K for a glimpse of what was going on, they had dug up a section of pipe in the middle of Upper Bunny Buster, and another one in the middle of lower Bunny Buster. There were also many random places that had been dug up throughout the mountain. All of the pipes that I saw being replaced were just the tiny 1 inch pipes from the hydrants, to the main pipe that is buried under the middle of many trails, including the ones I just mentioned. There have been many times this summer when ive gone up there, and they have been running air throughout the system... I guess they found where leakages or deficiencies were and are taking care of the problems.
Anyway lets see where they make snow this winter, where they haven't in recent times, and see if those pipes really work or not!!

Have you looked at them ever? Last I looked, they were quite obviously not in use, and beaten up and rusty. I also asked Spinmaster about it before, and he said they were not active.skiingsnow wrote:I dont think Valley Plunge ever lost snowmaking, that was just an error made in the past... That'd be nice, but unlikely IMO.Anyway lets see where they make snow this winter, where they haven't in recent times, and see if those pipes really work or not!!
