don't give up yer day job...counselor....by virtue of the lease ......it's theirs to open and close AS THEY SEE FIT...they don't have to even open the place...IT'S T H E I R PLACE!..access is their sole discretion. If you will feel better seeing JD after the name...I'll put it there...I've surely earned it.

According to paragraph 15 of the land lease with the State Of Vermont:Pud in palm wrote:don't give up yer day job...counselor....by virtue of the lease ......it's theirs to open and close AS THEY SEE FIT...they don't have to even open the place...IT'S T H E I R PLACE!..access is their sole discretion. Right. Killington's lease allows them to share the mountain with the public, not control it in any way. They only control the terms of their lift tickets and passes, which contain language on closed trails, following the code of conduct, etc.laseranimal wrote:According to paragraph 15 of the land lease with the State Of Vermont:Pud in palm wrote:don't give up yer day job...counselor....by virtue of the lease ......it's theirs to open and close AS THEY SEE FIT...they don't have to even open the place...IT'S T H E I R PLACE!..access is their sole discretion. Pud in palm isn't very well informed, regardless of the initials after his name.
Mtn Man, the reason you don't have to share your apartment is because your lease doesn't contain the public access clause, and your apt bldg isn't owned by the National or State Park Service, a public domain.
A ski area that owns their land is an entirely different situation, such as, say Ski Sundown in my neck of the woods. Totally private, totally owned, they can do as they please. If they ask you to leave you had better do so.

K COULD stop you from going uphill while the lifts ARE running however

Then I visit here and see a few posts about hiking today. How does Killington feel about that ? Do I need to sign a waiver ? Can I be arrested for trespassing ? Will my season pass be revoked if they find out my name ? I've never done pre-season hiking before just post-season at a few mountains in NY where we were able to park away from resort and get up there without being seen. It seems like there would be to many snowmakers around pre-season. I'd hate to head up there and get stopped before I can even get started. Any advice?

I did it yesterday (Tuesday 10/30)

although later in the afternoon, around 3:30, the snow was hard, crusty, but still skiing in Oct.

Never did understand the law, guess that explains the run-ins I've had

Close...it is VT Park Land....Calvin Coolidge State Park to be exact IIRC.kskier1949 wrote:I belive Killington is on US National Forest Service land and is leased thru the National Forest Service. This is US Gov't property and only the US Gov't can restrict use not Powdr or SP Land

Try State Forest. the PARK is down in Plymouth with camping et al. The State Forest is also a part of the Green Mountain National Forest and if you pay attention to the mulch on the access road, the big federal sign states as much as you pass it, prior to reaching Ramshead or Snowshed.summitchallenger wrote:Close...it is VT Park Land....Calvin Coolidge State Park to be exact IIRC.kskier1949 wrote:I belive Killington is on US National Forest Service land and is leased thru the National Forest Service. MAN, something wrong with that map. It is upsidedown to most, K peak being DOWN, I think. One chair goes to Snowdon, but another goes to never never land? Ramshead goes to the peak of the hill, but that has not been there for at least a decade.laseranimal wrote:
Still, National Forest is on approach to Killington and the sign states so. Coolage area is State FOREST, not PARK.
