There's a billion dollars on the table. For an alleged finance guy, you sure are naive. "Follow the money..."the Disemboweler wrote: i dont keep track of all that but aint no interconnect gonna happen....

Yeah, but that was old management and the new owners have much more credibility.RustyK wrote:They said that 5 years ago.dansbusy wrote:I think you'll see it happen within 5 years.

That's an interesting remark, and got me to thinking a little more. What surprised me was that the snow wasn't stockpiled in whales, but well distributed about the slope. They hadn't groomed it out, that's just the way it fell. Clearly mt ops had been manning the guns, adjusting them to conditions so you got better quality, and re-aiming them so there was better distribution. I'd like to think it wasn't dumb luck, but that they are sincere about making a better "product".laseranimal wrote:interestingly enough I think the "quality" of the early season snow is the best I've seen in 4 years of hiking
usually its nasty crusty stuff thats wet and heavy, this years batch has been quite good, I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the change in guns?

as an addendum to my earlier thoughts, its also interesting to note that the snow that had been made in earlier years used to have a thin, icy crust on top that normally was fairly wet, once you punched through that thin crust the snow underneath was really soft and fluffy
from what I could see from the postholes left by morons bootpacking straight up the middle of the trail(grrr) this years batch appears to be fairly homogeneous and well bonded to itself which should make for a better base.
Next time up I'll have to dig a pit

Maybe due to the guns running too long as the temps rose, not enough crew to shut them off fast enough?laseranimal wrote:as an addendum to my earlier thoughts, its also interesting to note that the snow that had been made in earlier years used to have a thin, icy crust on top that normally was fairly wet, once you punched through that thin crust the snow underneath was really soft and fluffy

for sure they're running less guns, but pending further inspection of the deeper layers, I think that the base they've laid down this year is FAR more bomber then anything I've seen in the past few yearsMister Moose wrote:Maybe due to the guns running too long as the temps rose, not enough crew to shut them off fast enough?laseranimal wrote:as an addendum to my earlier thoughts, its also interesting to note that the snow that had been made in earlier years used to have a thin, icy crust on top that normally was fairly wet, once you punched through that thin crust the snow underneath was really soft and fluffy
I'm not entirely convinced that they've made less snow either, I didn't think about probing for depth, but, they've pretty much gone treeline to treeline with a pretty substantial amount of coverage
