With this 2' dump, any chance you'll open up terrain/lodges ahead of schedule? Specifically Bear and Sunrise. Thanks.

No way in hell. Even if they got 10ft of snow and it groomed itself out perfectly, they still wouldn't open it early.

after this dump they could open snowshed no problem which is really needed. After last weekend which was my first weekend of "powder" my biggest gripe was they needed to open another base lodge. Saturday I got a late start and got to the mountain around 9:15 and had to park at snowshed and take a shuttle over. Open snowshed this weekend, they have the snow so why not open it??

Why No Snowshed Yet No Matter What The Snow Dumped

Post by Spyderman »

Powdr remodeled the Snowshed Lodge and it was started late and won'nt be ready for service till 12/14. That's why dispite the cold weather for snowmaking on Snowshed, and two feet of natural snow it's been declared by Powdr NO GO for Snowshed Quad. I agre thiswas a crazy decision that has over crowded lodges and no where for beginers to ski until Rams Head and Snow Shed finally open Dec. 14th.

Oh well at least it's snowing!!!

how could you NOT open everything with a 10' base, regardless of your stated operational plans? imagine the outrage?!

Even if it was the "Blizzard of 78" they still wouldn't budge. Powdr has their ways.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Bear & Sunrise are scheduled to open on 12/27. Why wouldn't PWDR at least open the day after Christmas, when the throngs will descend upon K? I hope they come to their senses, especially if they have coverage provided by ma nature.

They should at least open the slopes and the parking lots at rams and snowshed. Who cares about the dam lodge, I'll eat my waffle on the lift. I'm there to ski, not sit in the dam lodge. I put my boots on in my car.
There is nothing like a hot waffle and latte on a chairlift on a blustery day!

Exactly. There's no way that the slope at Snowshed needs 9 days' snowmaking to open, and it'd give a bunch of easy accessed terrain.

From the K website: By Christmas we expect to be skiing/riding on 100% of our snowmaking trails and 140+ trails, more if Mother Nature continues to pitch in.

So....with another dump on the way, does this mean Bear will be open prior to Christmas Day, or is PWDR sticking with the 27th?

I took 3 dumps today!
They should have 250+ trails open for this weekend.
