Our local paper, The Cape Cod Times, ran an article in the paper today with the above title. It talks about Powdr Corp and how it has "ruffled feathers among locals, worried some real estate interests and triggered at least one lawsuit. The owners have laid off workers, refused to honor lifetime passes and closed a major lower lift and neighboring Pico Mountain midweek for skiing". It also mentions their plans to "develop a ski village". More bad publicity...no mention of the great conditions and the recent snow. Too bad.

Too bad they didn't give the real details either... Midweek is mon-fri, its "only" closed tues-wed. Powdr honored the lifetime passes. When you hear something such as General Motors laying off large numbers of workers, as a consumer, you get the impression that GM does not sell enough cars to require those employees. It is quite natural to wonder if there could be a problem with the quality or perceived quality of the product.

you know I can live with most of the decisions, not saying I agree with them, because I don't. I don't have a lifetime pass, I very rarely go to K tuesday and wednesday. Even the riase in season passes wasn't that bad. The only thing that really bugs me is shortening the season. I love spring conditions and now K will have one of the shorter spring seasons. Thats what really turned me off and made me not get the season pass this year. I'll take my chances at mt snow this year for long weekends and if K comes to their senses about the length of the season then I'll probably be back.
