Saturday Report

[Bubba]

Got out early and stayed out until around 1:00. Skied over at Bear in the morning, with OL fairly solid rolling bumps, Upper Wildfire soft bumps, everything else very carveable packed powder. Headed back over toward KBL, eventually coming down Superstar, then back up and did the Ovation headwall and middle O, both icy in spots and tricky at best, then back onto Supe and down to KBL for a break. Ran into the Gs, Dr.Z, Shortski, G-Smashed and Geoff and, when I mentioned that I'd done upper and middle O but skipped lower O, he pointedly told me I was a fool and it was the best it had skied in years. Oy, silly me for missing that. Headed back out and hit some Snowdon runs, then over to the Glades where I did a fun, bumped, but treacherous in spots upper Powerline to Home Run to East Fall, then back up and over to South Ridge and, finally, back across to Launch Pad to hit lower O which was, to say the least, sweet. (Thanks Geoff!) Finally finished up with a run down Superstar to High Road to Bittersweet onto Low Road to Snowshed and home. Pics follow below.

I was on demo skis today - Dynastar Contact Limited - very nice ski. Turns easily, good edge hold, ok in the bumps (as badly as I really do them of course) and overall a good performing ski. I'm looking to replace my everyday ski - currently K2 Crossfires - with something that skis a bit more like the Head IC300s I had before the K2s. Suggestions welcome.

Try the Volkl AC 30 and the Fischer RX Fire 8. Nice skis for typical K conditions.

Bubba Demo the Head Super Carve...the Green & white ones or the Head Monster 78's trust me they both are great skis!

Nordica Mach 2 for Sunday.

Lower Ovation was defiinitely the run today. I skied it six times total. I also skied other runs. I skied the Vertigo headwall twice and the second time I took a nice fall on the very icy surface. Luckily I recovered. That trail should have been closed early on. Superstar was fast but edgeable. Skylark was also pretty good. Bittersweet was better. Old Superstar had some soft powder. Thimble and Needles under the gondola were also pretty nice. Skied the Fiddle from the lower entrance and it was pretty nice. Growler and Centerpiece had some nice snow but also some crunchy snow. Somewhere/Nowhere and Skybits also had some decent snow. Some other unnamed tree runs also had nice powder. Escapade was pretty good but Flume was mostly ice. I didn't do any other Canyon runs or Snowdon so I cannot report on those areas.

The second time was to follow Skiboardfreak, Capboy and Snowjob into the trees. I should have done Decapitator instead. At least that had good snow.

?Nordica Mach 2" Meaaaah..so so at best Nordica makes great race skis but out side of the racers the others are no better than your k2's
