Sunday

Post by Keithus »

Q-Ball wanted to do Skyeship runs down to Rt 4 today.
Why not?
A couple of inches of light and fluffy fell last night and today is partly cloudy with flurries.
It's also a bit warmer than it's been.

We had 2nd cabin and took the various routes, nooks, and crannies between the top of Skye and the gondola.

The little man got a taste of the woods with the many small tree runs that abound in some of those areas.
He's definitely got the willingness to follow me into just about anything and is bursting with confidence after his race down a slick B-Slope course yesterday.

It started to get crowded at about 10:30, so by 11:00 we were sitting in Johnny Boys.

Huge crowd at Johnny's with a line out the door; Sunday is the busiest day.
My wife used to be the hostess though, so we got seated pretty instantly (thanks Grace).

I love eating there for the "Cheers" factor if you're a local/regular.

Snow? What snow? Conditions sucked. WEll, actually it snowed most of the day. Cover on Highline was really good early, but the racers managed to find the ICE. Most of the trails I was on were in good shape. Didn't see any sign of crowds except at K1, and that was due to SCANNERS PITA.

Only crowd I'll see today will be the dang drive home.

Enjoy the new snow coming and the mid week emptyness.

It was a good day, light crowds, plenty of room to turn as you please, but plenty of cat tracks showing too. Especially in the Canyon.
Doesn't look like Mother Nature's going to help anytime soon besides these light dustings, so I'm now in the camp now.......

SBF and I agree conditions were AWFUL, we were so bummed about how just plain hideous it was out there, and I have photos to prove it(as soon as I get them uploaded)

skiingsnow you're gonna be jealous :D

Despite the 6-8 inches of new snow Growler was terrible. There was untouched powder on top of slick ice and downed trees. Trying to hold an edge was impossible.

It was best to stay on groomers today.

Hey laser what kind of dope skis in the trees when there is barely enough cover on some of the trails. No wonder you think it stinks!
