The new Overlords really haven't seemed to make friends with anyone, why would the Liquor Control Board be any different?

But I'd really guess that they think they can make a hefty profit, too bad no-one will show up.
Here's the real question...is it the VT DLC cracking down or is it Killington just using the DLC as a convenient excuse? Remember, they started off last year banning alcohol and then relented. This year they're banning BYOB and blaming it on the DLC. Credibility problem?

You think? Follow the money trail. I wonder why its never been a problem in year's past - cops have always patrolled the place and its never been a problem as long as you weren't doing something illegal. Just another way for Powdr to cash in an ruin Killington tradition. Yes, Powdr has a major credibility problem, why anyone would believe anything they say is beyond me.

Anyone know anyone that knows anyone in the DLC that can confirm if they are the reason why BYOB is being shut down?

I would say that normal procedure in most states is to get a special permit for an event such as this.
Admins, I respectfully request that you do not delete this post or me, thank you.

I would say it most likely is a permitting issue - given the size of the event in terms of people and space - with state powers asking/demanding (money for them) and K/POWDR refusing (they don't like to pay for something they've never had to pay for before).

It's always about money - hey even the tour de france looks like it's going to be canceled over jurisdiction/money.

Forget the consultants being hired by the town; the whole place needs a master negotiator/arbitrator - nothing wrong with that when entities bring vastly different mind sets to the table. Norm in professional sports, business and law. The option tax funding would never in their wildest success beat an event like BMMC. Got to get people talking and moving to positive conclusions somehow.

Move the K-zone platform to Whiteouts place above the event. May not be able to see it, but we could still have one hell of a party.

Don't boycott the event. Boycott the Powder beer. Someone else nailed it. Camelbacks with mixed drinks for everyone!!! 40 oz of margaritas in a camelback should do it. If not, back to the car to refill once or twice - no problem!

That's why I think the Liquor Control Board might just be the ones saying no alcohol. I'm not familiar with any other ski resorts that have a party like this.

Would this event have gotten this big if it wasn't for the alcohol?

I repeat, fight the power! Finn already gave you the website and an email address. Flood the guy with complaints. This is just crazy that they are going to eliminate BYOB. Protest, sit down and drink!

I agree. We will have to make mixed stuff and bring it in 2 liter bottles or something like that. No beer is ok with me. I'll drink anything.

I'm going to a St. Ptricks day parade in new Haven today and there is always booze on the streets. Should be interesting to see how they are going to police the BMMC.

And really, send these duche bags your complaints too.

BS. If they were actually concerned, they could offer the beer at whatever rate THEY pay (which is certainly a hell of a lot less than their normal pricing), and everyone would probably be fine with it (or at least believe them).

What happened to the one quality post in this thread??

The one that included this: http://liquorcontrol.vermont.gov/contacts.html

------------

If the prices of anything are reduced by a dime, I think it can be confirmed it wasn't powdr's doing with the new rules.
