Not my 'hood hombre. No other place I would want to be than NYC. 3 blocks from the park, dozens of restaurants, 5 minute commute, minimal if any crime (as long as you're not involved with drugs), great schools, etc,...the Disemboweler wrote:i was gonna say the same thing....outside of a few nice areas in manhattan the rest of nyc is a discusting $hit hole with even more discusting people....talk about over rated....its a mice, rat & roach infested dump....Nikoli wrote:Try NYCSt. Jerry wrote:I don't think there is any greater sh*t-hole than lawng-giland.
just came back from visiting the in-lawhls in lawng-ghliand (Port Jeff area). Even my wife, who grew up there, seems embarrased on how crappy lang ghiland has become.
Although Shelter Island is really nice. other than that...

NYC is great no doubt, but you got roaches, admit it.St. Jerry wrote:Not my 'hood hombre. My first two places had roaches. The first place had a mouse too. We bleached him to death. The second place had water bugs, which is a nicer term for German cockroaches. About every two months they would crawl up out of the bathroom drain and surprise you when you were in your birthday suit as you were about to take a shower at 6AM. They grew to about 2 inches long and could fly. good times.
No roaches or mice in the current place. Good building management and co-op board here.
When I was in school upstate, we had silverfish. The first time I saw one of those running across the room I thought it was a baby mouse. Not nearly as nasty as german cockroaches, but still nasty none the less.
Now, having wild tarantulas in your bathroom, that's something completely different. Oh, not a fun time.

If you live in one of the boroughs of NYC you have to contend with roaches or at least get an exterminator in once in a while to get rid of them. Now that is one problem that I have not had since living in LI. I've had field mice problems once or twice and ants in the springtime but never roaches. So maybe it is not such a shithole as you make it out to be. Why do people like you have to put down where other people live? What matters is that you are happy where you choose to live and where others lives should not matter to you at all.St. Jerry wrote:My first two places had roaches. The first place had a mouse too.
