What's the best college for skiing?

i haven't gone through this entire thread, but if i had to do it all over again, i'd go to the university of montana (missoula).

if coombs did it, it's the best, and it's good enough for me.

Yup...and you response to HS highlights another double standard with admins of the Killingtonzone.

Admin bumps a bunch of old threads, nothing happens. Someone else, they get a veiled threat of being put in timeout.

What about Middlebury?

Top academics (maybe not quite as good as Williams but up there in general) and own little mountain. Pretty good location.

(They used to have dorm rooms with wardrobes that were ski friendly!)

i went to midd. it was a good school for skiing, but not great. the problem is that iit was overall too hard to really get in as much skiing as i needed. i think state schools are the better places to be if you want to ski.

edit: it's also not as close as you think to stuff. traffic on route 7 can really slow yo down getting to stowe or kton. the bush, MRG and the ski bowl are all very close though...

If you wanna stay in the east, St. Michael's ain't a bad place. My son skied 90 days a season and managed to make the dean's list. Semester breaks he spent time in CO and one semester in Austria.

(I'm not sure how they count the days, though. They ski as soon as they get outta class in the afternoon a lot of days; and I know they did some night skiing as well.)

My brother Mike went to UC at Boulder and skied all over Colorado. He's a CPA now and he skis one weekend a year at K if he's lucky.
It's not where you go to school, it's what you do with it after.

My alma Middlebury has probably already been mentioned. We were 40 mins from SB, 35 from MRG, 15 from our own hill, 45-50 from Pico, and 55-60 from K-Mart. Oh yeah...about 1:30 from Whiteface.

Only problem: you will be working your ass off too much to ski.

WEST is the way to go. Then, determine what it is you want from college. Skiing and maybe education, Gunnison has a 2 year program with Crested Butte right up the road, and Telluride only about 1 1/2 hours away.
Need more education, less skiing, find the college you want. But do it in the WEST were the mountains are big and the snow is soft and deep.

Nobody seemed to mention my Al Ma Mater... The University of Rhode Island baby!!! Yagoo Valley is only 10 minutes away from campus!! Top to bottom run (25-30 seconds if you take your time).

Seriously, only 1:15 to Bear Attatash and 3:15 to Killington.

P.S. On top of the access to several NE mountains it was rated #7 by Surfer Mag for best surfing Universities and #3 by Playboy for hottest females (much more impressive since it has a 61% to 39% female to male ratio)

I loved that place (2000-2004). I bet it is the closest University in the country to night skiing (perfect for a few turns after class).... That has got to count for something right???
