That an average value of product your company ships daily?

Just out of curiosity are you familiar with the software package used to manage your manufacturing, shipping, sales, and accounting processes. Curious if your company uses an ERP system.
Get with the program, SAP, like it or not.
ERP = Enterprise Resource Planning.

SAP, Oracle, etc. are ERP's.

Get with it Doc! :D

Now you've got me interested, however. I'm in the business of helping companies like it. Time to PM you!
We use SAP.

That is an average value that my division of the company ships daily, there are about 7 or so categories.
Nice German-culture software. You MUST alter all your processes to use it. The IT department wears brown shirts and jackboots with little Hitler mustaches and walks around telling the rest of the company how they have to change the way they do business.

Do you work at the same company as Dr No?

No you don't. It's case by case, but by all means you never have to alter ALL your process to use it.

I was completely unaware of what cutting edge did, until 3 weeks ago, when I got a job there! Its a huge company!!! We just shipped out an order March 30, bringing in over $400,000 !!!! Its really amazing to see everything in action. They operate 24 hours a day, its a big time, real deal factory.

Infact, its "The Most Advanced Bur Manufacturer In The World!"

Skippy, You are very fortunate that I am not you boss. Any employee, especially a new one, should be fired on the spot for posting sales info on the internet. It probably won't be long before you are scooping ice cream at the White Cottage in Woodstock !

YOU ARE A TOTAL BRIDGEWATER MOROM !!!!!!

Right. I overstated it. You only have to alter your processes that don't align with the way SAP implemented their software. Sieg Heil, baby!

Have you ever opened the box SAP ships with their software?

Have you tried implementing Oracle? It's an f-ing joke. There are good reasons why SAP is a bit more static. That way, it actually does what it's supposed to do. What a concept.
Es war sehr schoen.

Nazi's make SAP? I worked with a few thousand American's that make the software, too.

What do you get when you open an Oracle E-Business box ... a bunch of hicks?

Actually, I prefer working for companies small enough that I can avoid either of those software packages.

I think it has a lot to do with how the company goes about their implementation.

I worked at a big pharma company who had a consulting firm implement a vanilla SAP. Four years later they ask us to come in and clean it up, provide documentation, close gaps in controls, etc.

All of the above should be done PRIOR to implementation. Blue print the system, controls, and processes and work out the kinks before the implementation. After a few months re-evaluate the implementation and note any differences post-implementation.

Too many companies do the former rather than the latter. They don't want to pay the costs up front, but end up paying double or triple the costs after the implementation. Luckily, I'm working on a company doing the latter for Oracle.

I don't deal with SAP...all of the information I need is feed into Essbase from the SAP system.

As far as I am concerned, for the few times I had to us SAP, it sucks.

No I don't work at the same place Dr. No works.

Does Essbase run on a SAP system??

I only use the software to get my numbers, I don't know how the system works.
