Just out of curiosity are you familiar with the software package used to manage your manufacturing, shipping, sales, and accounting processes. Curious if your company uses an ERP system.

Nazi's make SAP? I worked with a few thousand American's that make the software, too.

Actually, I prefer working for companies small enough that I can avoid either of those software packages.

I think it has a lot to do with how the company goes about their implementation.

I worked at a big pharma company who had a consulting firm implement a vanilla SAP. Four years later they ask us to come in and clean it up, provide documentation, close gaps in controls, etc.

All of the above should be done PRIOR to implementation. Blue print the system, controls, and processes and work out the kinks before the implementation. After a few months re-evaluate the implementation and note any differences post-implementation.

Too many companies do the former rather than the latter. They don't want to pay the costs up front, but end up paying double or triple the costs after the implementation. Luckily, I'm working on a company doing the latter for Oracle.

I don't deal with SAP...all of the information I need is feed into Essbase from the SAP system.

Does Essbase run on a SAP system??

I only use the software to get my numbers, I don't know how the system works.
