I voted other, cause I really couldn't care less. I was into biking for the longest time, did I watch the Tour de France, No. I was into running, and even ran a couple of marathons, did I watch any on TV? No. Why? Cause I couldn't give a rats ass. I prefer to do rather then watch. Sorry, if I come off strong just my opinion :)

I voted Bode because I think that racers are the best overall skier. I once heard a story about Phil Mahre getting on a mogul field and just skiing it hard and fast GS style like it wasn't there. I think racers make the most sacrifices to the sport and could probably beat any big mountain skier without so much as a second thought.

Thats my opinion. If you have a differering one, bring it.

i'm sticking with mtn man. i'd like to see bode do anarchy with 10" of pow on no base and all sorts of crap sticking out and say it was the run of the day. no way bode could cut it.

you want some of this! i don't care if you're twice my size ... bring it! how 'bout bringing it to bay 1 sat afternoon. :)

actually i took one of those mahre bros clinics eons ago. phil skied briefly with the group. seeing him up close and personal was amazing. he was so quiet and controlled and he still blew everybody out of the course.

I don't doubt the story on Phil Mahre.

When I was at Breckenridge our resident wildman was CJ (Crazy John) Mueller. Watching him ski Mach One was quite a sight. He'd take the moguls at about 40mph, just skimming the tops, big GS turns in smooth arcs. There was no slamming at all, his upper body was still the whole way down. He made it look like the bumps weren't there. He made it look easier than easy. What bumps? Magic.

Imagine OL in 15 turns, no groomed side.

One outrageous day, he got it into his head to see how many times he could ski Mach One. The lifties let him ski right onto the chair, and he lapped something like 88 times. If you don't know the trail, its hard to envision the scope of this feat. This was back before the back bowl chair, when the 7-Up lift went up right alongside Mach One. Lunch was oreos eaten on the chair. Only CJ skied like that. We considered powder season open when he skied the ski school bldg roof. (A-Frame pitch, I think the hardest part was getting up there)

Years later CJ was part of the US Olympic Team in a short lived event called speed skiing. Faster than downhill. *Edit: 131.74 mph, a world record.

There are many skiers with more name recognition, or more medals. Seeing him ski in person, in the same conditions I was struggling with, was much more impressive than any ski movie. I never skied with CJ. No one did. He left us all in the dust.

I'm not the best by a big margin. I just adjust to varied conditions, that's all. Thanks for the kind words though :D

I voted for Chris Davenport. The man skis so fluid and sticks some of the most insane launches. Oh, and he's my age too

Second vote(s) would be for Seth Morrison and Micah Black and Jeremy Nobis. How could you leave them out? They all blow Pollard off the mtn.

I love technical big mtn skiing.

pollard does have sweet looking style, especially since he broke his back two years ago. so does his teammate skogen sprang who also had a very serious injury as well.
my favorite skier is jannie lattalia finish mogul skiing phenom. watching him train/coach on the blackcomb glacier two summers ago it's no wonder he's the one. i think the finish team has picked up on technique where the americans left off. not to say the jeremy bloom isn't the shiznat, but i like said i think the finish team has a sound technique.

I guess I'm the only one voting for Shane McConkey. That guy cracks me up. Plus - have any of the other guys been made into an action figure? I have a Shane McConkey action figure!
