Definitely going to be coming up 14th and 15th I think so was wanting to know what to expect. No boarding for 6 months is starting to get to me and the fact they've got an indoor slope nearly finished but not quite about 5 miles form my house is pissing me right off.

By the way, what's a troll?
you from north jersey i guess?

Is it worthwhile coming up from NJ or is it gonna be silly busy/crappy snow? Getting excited about it,when do you think opening weekend will be?I'm hearing 14th Nov, any chance of it being earlier?

Cheers peoples
You are probably a troll but here goes: Killington is scheduled to open 11/14 but they have stated that weather permitting they might open earlier. I would suggest you keep checking back here and see what we have to say about the opening.

Could you be any ruder to the new guy???? Calling him a troll and then saying check back here and see what we have to say...
Pffft, good one TY, way to welcome him, I am sure he is feeling good with your elitist attitude.
In the past I would have not have said that (about being a troll) but many times there are people on this board that register under another alias just to look like a beginner looking for information or just to start trouble. I've seen this a lot so forgive me for being skeptical whenever I see one of these types of posts. This poster could have read the board a little and gotten the same information that I posted. There are threads regarding opening day.

I apologize for calling you a possible troll. Here is an explanation of what a troll is:

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion

IMO it all depends on how much snow falls from the sky and or from a gun parked on the side of the trail the weeks before opening day.
and to echo HS if other ski areas are open it might not be that much of a zoo.
Welcome new guy.

thanks for all the nice answers.

Yes I do live in North jersey but I'm from Scotland and have to go home in 6 weeks.

So the weekedn before I go home, we're looking to go boarding and get smashed hopefully.

Any more questions will be directed towards this thread and I do hope not to act too much like a troll.

Bye bye

OK so if opening weekend is 14th Nov, will the mountain charge full price for a lift ticket if the whole mountain isn't open or are they cheeky bastards and charge full whack the whole time?

Any good or bad experiences from the last couple of years opening day/weekend?

Cheers people.

Ticket rates should be around $55 opening day. I think they go up a bit from there after a couple weeks, but are still reduced from regular rates until about December 19th.

Generally the opening day/weekend conditions are pretty good. Last year they got quite a bit of r*in the day before but they resurfaced throughout and was pretty good pretty quick. Of course IF it were to be busy, the more conditions will deteriorate through each day.

I will also tell you that an earlier opening is also possible and likely to be on a Friday or perhaps Saturday. But a weekday opening is also not out of the question, but not very likely to happen.

Here are a few pics of last years opening weekend:

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Looks much better than I was expecting it to be.

Also looking at going to Mount Snow if it opens before killington. Would that be worth it or is that a bad question to be asking on here?

Mount Snow uses fan guns on some of the terrain, so the quality may be a little bit better, but they will surely have less terrain open than Killington. They will also have mostly flat to generally easy intermediate terrain open. Killington will have a few short steep trails open such as Mouse Trap and Upper Downdraft. And also some "real" intermediate terrain such as Upper East Fall and Rime. Another thing, Mount Snow is likely to be more crowded with some of the hype they had last year early season, and also there less amount of terrain.

I wouldn't count on ANYONE opening much before Killington, if at all.

Killington also opened trails such as Upper Chute, Lower Chute and the Snowdon Quad, MTS, Lower East Fall (pic below) and the Canyon Quad and more very shortly after opening.
