Warm up there, 40's on the whole mountain. Spring like conditions, snow was soft. Foggy on the top half of the mountain. Upper Downdraft is open! Damn!, had it been cold out that woulda been some awesome pow! Pretty empty up there. Mountain ops are out and about setting up guns on new terrain.
Based on what I see today, on the mountain and the forecast, I am not counting on them being able to open this weekend, but hey, maybe they will...
1st day out. it was nice. thick fog up top till about the middle of the glades area, which was starting to lift as i was on my way out. chilly up top, dont know about it being 40 up there, but it was warm down at the base. everything rode pretty well, considering we had some showers move through earlier this morning. rime was in the best shape of the open terrain. didnt bother with the gnar on downdraft, maybe tomorrow. pretty much did GN laps, and a few in the glades, dont think upper eastfall will make thru the warm up, but whatever. nice to be out there, spring riding looks to be about right for the next couple days...
he would shove your ass so far up your ass and stuff! -thejet61 10/2/09
If a snowboarder is in front of me or to the side I assume the slobbering moron will cut from one side of the trail to the other -GSKI 1/17/12
I would agree that the lower mountain won't hold but there will be ample snow in the glades area
It was good today
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.

Thanks for the conditions report and the pictures. I am heading up there with my son tomorrow for some pre-birthday turns as it looks questionable that they will have decent skiing early next week.
Just been on the K website and the snow report says "should last through midweek"
Do you reckon that means they'll be open Thursday and Friday? The only days I can get up there this week. If the link to the bottom of the hill goes will they close the whole mountain? As I'm from Scotland, going to Glencoe, where there is only really 2 runs to the bottom of the hill, not having a whole lot of different runs doesn't concern me but I'm worried I'll drive all the way there and they won't open.
For those of you who would say wait till next week, don't worry! I'm heading up next weekend as well for definite.

Bring on the winter!
Be prepared to go if they are still open but don't be too disappointed if they close because I think they will try their best to keep it open. Now if all those skiers/riders would stay in the Northridge area for most of the day there might be a chance that the snow will last more.
