Snow conditions were good this morning, but the weather conditions were not...

Very light r*in at 8:50 at K base, 39 degrees. Quickly changed to sleet and snow, and falling temps. Moderate to Heavy winds, the K1 shut down shortly after opening, and the gondolas are off the rope, may not open again today.... Inversion this morning, as it was 32 in Bridgewater and warming as you went up, all the way to 39 at K base.... As of now, it is now warmer down here than K base and felt colder on the mountain than at the base...

Snowmaking shut down...

Lower Superstar and Lower Skye Lark both left ungroomed from yesterday, I did Lower Superstar, skiing well...

Upper Ovation groomed, and snowmaking equipment set up. . . .

Jesus Christ, give it a f*** rest.

Some people actually come on here to see what it's like up there so photos and reports from each day are pretty bastard useful. For some tube who isn't even there to keep coming on moaning about EVERYTHING and putting a negative slant on EVERYTHING is really starting to get on my tits.

I am coming to NE in January and haven't decided where yet, photos and reports are very useful in making decisions and photos of decent snow conditions are always useful.

Stop being such a negative arse and leave him alone to post photos and describe the conditions. If he's way off then someone who's actually THERE will come on and show him up for misreporting them!!

it was actually ok today, despite the r*in/snow mix. really wet precip coming down. rode all 3 over on skye to start the day. skyelark was probably the best over there. snow was nice and light up top, but changed over to wet slop about halfway down. ovation rode really well. superstar was pretty good after cutting back over from ovation. went over to the snowdon triple as the gondola was down today. long soaking ride up, and over to the glades chair, snow up there was awesome. i did rime top to bottom, where you could find maybe 3" in spots and wind scoured in others. a couple people i was with hit powerline and said it was nice. next lap i did reason to eastfall to the runout. eastfall is in the best shape its been this season since it opened. really quiet up there, only saw a few local folks out and about...hope it doesnt freeeze hard tonight...also good show at the pickle tonight if anyone is around...

Mister Moose and I did Cascade laps. The K1 wasn't running so you had to ride triple-triple to get there. My first run down it, it was untracked with a couple of inches of wet snow. The surface was really nice but the visibility was iffy until you got to old KChair midstation.

This was one of those days where you really wanted to have three pairs of gloves with you. 2 hours and my gloves were saturated. I flipped over to mittens after lunch. My fingers are still a little numb from this morning.

Better than expected after the r*in freeze earlier in the week.

HS, I am a tough grader, looking at snow through Colorado eyes, and I can tell you there is almost no ice. The mountain is fairly uniform, standard dense machine base, but not solid. You can get all the bite you want if you ask for it. Easily passed the ski pole test. Nice 2" layer on top today. I had a 1/4" glaze by lunch. Snowing on most of the mountain, drizzle on the bottom 200 vert. Punchable crust to heavy snow beneath off the groomers. Ski by braille at the top, wipe your goggles at the bottom. So sticky the first time in recent memory I had to skate on the canyon runout. Geoff and I impressed the triple crew with our loading finesse.

No.

The first time loading on the triple, Mister Moose dropped a ski pole, picked it up, and got grabbed by the chair 20 feet behind the loading line. The chair stopped right at the loading line so I got deluxe service.

The second time, we were getting on with a chickie Ambassador on tele gear in between us. The chair seat was all iced up and they really bumped it as it loaded. I was on the right hand side and slid right off the seat. I opted to bail out to the right rather than try to haul myself back on. Mister Moose and the ambassador bailed out, too. That's the first time I've done that since the OL lift in 1988.
