OT: Things to do In Philly?
Headed to Philly for work on Sunday and coming back on Tuesday early evening. Hotel is at 17th and Race and office is in the 30's on 17th. Anything to do or see in this area within walking distance? Especially on Sunday late afternoon/early evening.
Re: OT: Things to do In Philly?
I don't know where those streets are, but there is a sh*t ton o' history to see in Philly, not to mention a plethora of fine beverage establishments
Don't forget to have a pretzel and a cheese steak!

If the weather is good I would suggest you take a cab to the Olde City section which is about 13 blocks towards the river from where you are. There are a lot of historical sites and some very good restaurants and bars. Buddakhan is a very interesting restaurant. And there is a Monday Night Football game if you want to see that team that manhandeled the Giants last weekend. lol

Sounds like you are now in the ranks of being a road whore. Hope it works out.

Thanks guys. All this talk of food is making me hungry.
Although would love to hit a bar or two, I'll be by myself. Not really into going to bars by myself. Will check out a couple of the eateries tho.

Thanks. Just a road whore for the commute. Have to go to Philly for orientation (main office). It's not a job that requires extensive travel. I will probably have to go to Philly once in awhile and to DC for seminars. Wish it was a position that required travel to the Tahoe office.IronMan WannaB wrote:Sounds like you are now in the ranks of being a road whore. Hope it works out.

if it snows, make sure you throw snowballs at Santa. people will think you live there if you do.
Re: OT: Things to do In Philly?
Your hotel would be right down the street from the Ben Franklin Parkway so your near both the Museum of Natural Science and the Art Museum. Sunday night is tough a lot of things like that probably close down but if you get in early enough the Art Museum is a nice spot for someone alone to kill some time. If you want the Philly Traditional experience you head to Lord & Taylor (used to be Wanamakers) and watch the Christmas light show I think it plays every every thirty minutes and there is a resteraunt on the 3rd or 4th floor where you can sit and watch it if you dont want to stand with the crowds of kiddies. Historical areas more near 500 block of Market St. where liberty bell is and the Constitution Center, Independence Hall area, if you want to eat in that area try the City Tavern where the setting is 18th century. A lot of great eating places including some of those mentioned. I like Budakhan (sp?) but not sure about that experience eating alone, since a large part of that is the family style serving and communal table experience but good food, was there a couple of weeks ago and did notice people eating by themselves, but a lot of good places to eat right in the area where your hotel is located. And if you like sports take the subway to the sports stadiums and go watch the flyers kick someones butt and have your cabbie take you to Tony Lukes for a pork sandwich eating out on the street in 20 degree weather or Pats or Genos for a cheesesteak, I love Genos neons signs I think they can be seen from outer space but I prefer Pats Cheesesteaks and although I have lived here my entire life, American Cheese for me you can hold that cheese whiz crap (I know thats sacreligious) wit the onions.

I second that!!!!
But if you must stay, check out if anything is going on at the Kimmel Center or the Walnut Street Theater. Both are within walking distance.
