Cold temperatures, light winds, a limited number of people, and great conditions. I was out from 10 till 12.

Snowmaking continues on the Superpipe and Lower Dream Maker, and is now underway on Middle Skyeburst and Lower Skyeburst as well.

Middle Skyeburst was Very Good. Lower Double Dipper was windblown at the top and down lower some tough areas, but ok overall. Lower East Fall was Nice. Upper East Fall was nice too. Great Eastern Very Good. Upper Skyeburst pretty good. Bittersweet top to bottom was quite good.

Canyon Quad is open today, despite all lifts being empty, including the K1 Express Gondola.

2 guns on Middle Skyeburst provided great skiing

Nice pics ss . . . . it really was nice out there - and everywhere . . . a little warmer at Bear so spent the rest of my day there after my ROD on Highline  Started out at Snowdon and then into the Canyon and Glades - all great, and the bluebird skies made the cold manageable. Upper Wildfire had been groomed, but not flat - almost appeared to have snow made on it since there were rollers on it. The snowmaking on Skyburst was not too bad, the surface was great, and the guns were situated so that you could avoid getting blasted. OL still bumped and the "dusting to an inch" looked very inviting - I think they got more than an inch  The park on Dream Maker is HUGE; The Stash was closed:( . . . not sure why :?c

Well, if you live here and are sitting around - get your butt out there - it is so well worth it!!! :seeya

How Cold?

I had planned to bring my 4 yr old up to ministars this weekend but I am concerned about the temperature for him.

Snowforecast is predicting wind chills in the -30 to -50 degree range for the weekend, last time I checked...

on saturday the temp might nudge above zero but it should be pretty brutal. might "warm up" to about 10-12 on sunday. probably not a great weekend for a 4 yr old.

I agree with MrsG. If you dressed for it it wasn't bad at all. I drove to bear knowing that it would be warmer and I could use the warmth of the nearby lodge if needed. The winds were light and it was total bluebird so it didn't feel as cold as it was. I alternated about six runs off the bear chair and the SPE then went inside to warm. Went back out for a few more and it was pretty much just as good. Before my last run I went and warmed my car up so it was toasty when I got back  I apologize in advance about my big fat stinking carbon footprint.

Several trails seemed freshly groomed today and I was surprised by how much snow blew into the woods. Many of the primary tracked out tree lines were filled in with very nice snow – not light powder, but still very good.

Had a great time despite the cold. Helped to keep my record breaking work procrastination streak intact.

Dragged my but out for 11 till 2.
Mostly Bear.
Tough pick ROTD Upper Jug/Breakaway or Vally Plunge.
Both had a light coat of fresh on them.

12-2:15. Found the skiing to be excellent. Not nearly as cold as I was expecting.
