With the removal of the SS Crossover, the Sotuh Ridge lift becomes the priority project IMO. It should be of sufficient capacity and speed to draw people to that part of the mountain while not having to deal with the slow, freezing, wind howling rocking that exists now. Going straight up Jug would accomplish this. It would be nice if they could bring it all the way up to a new peak lodge, but that's too much traffic on upper GN. This also means they would have to make snow on lower Pipe Dream more often and take care of the area better. This one improvement would solve many of the other issues on the mountain and spread the people out even more (getting out of Bear at all, getting to Canyon side without pushing past lodge, shift some traffic away from already crowded Skye Peak region of the mountain).
While I also think replacing the Snowdon lifts will be an issue soon, they need to address the major crossing issues here before they increase capacity.
A new Peak lodge that's designed and operated to be a primary eating and break option (like so many other mountains have) is also a high priority item.

If the spring pass is viable, meaning profitable, I would hope that Killington would consider this in their business decision making. Last year, Killington's lack of a spring pass propelled other resorts to fill the void, namely Sugarbush.

I agree with Geoff about fixing the Great Northern crossover issues. IMO, all the intersections all but kill that side of the mountain. Imagine how much better Downdraft, Rime, East Glade, Chute, BunnyBuster to Mousetrap etc etc would all be without Great Northern continually interfering.
As far as pricing goes i think that the seaoson pass prices are about right, and I like the express card option for those of us who just can't get in as many days as we used to due to life circumstances. (It would be great if they added one more perk to the express card... maybe you get a free day after 8 days, or a select midweek day that is super cheap... half price wednesdays or something like that).
Kids program pricing is really where Killington loses me. For me to come up with wife and two kids, and ski for the weekend with the older kid in lessons and the younger at friendly penguin would be $878 (with the express card discount included). Thats before buying any lunches, coffees, waffles etc etc. I would think that would be offensive to even the super wealthy.

The used to groom the middle entrance (between Panic Button and Skyeship entrance) to provide an intermediate entrance to NE but stopped that practice. The cover was never good due to no snowmaking where this entrance and the skyeship entrance merged. It wasn't an ideal situation but it did achieve what you mention here. Really, all they need is to be able to blow snow on it and this entrance will work just fine as well as the lower one.Geoff wrote:There needs to be an intermediate entrance to Needles Eye. After Panic Button, it's an intermediate cruiser. I think they'd just have to widen the Skyeship liftline where they blasted it 15 years ago so it can be groomed properly.

IMHO making the kids program more affordable for families would bring back many families that have left because of the pricing. By bringing back those families they invest in their future since those kids will grow up loving Killington and they will return when they are older and have their own families. Right now a lot of my friends are skiing with their families at other mountains and those kids will remember the good times they had at those mountains and in the future probably return to them instead of coming to K. It seems to me that Powdr does not care about the future - they just care about the present. Maybe they don't plan on sticking around for long.

am i the only person who doesn't want them to replace the south ridge triple? Where else can you go on such an interesting lift that actually turns?? Also it keeps people out of the area so there is better snow. I would be sad if they put in a high speed quad or something like that. I like the character of the area
Re: So what's next for Killington Resort?
I think they should just turn the chairs around and run the South Fridge triple up Jug. It would shorten the ride time and keep the chairs out of the wind. I don't know what they'd have to do with gears and brakes to make the modification but it has to be cheaper than installing a new lift.skifree wrote:am i the only person who doesn't want them to replace the south ridge triple? LEAVE PICO ALONE!!!
if you make the inter connect you will lose 3 very faithful customers for sure. my wife daughter and i. im sure there are many more like us.
there is no other mountain in central vermont with such a relaxed atmosphere. also there is no other trail anywhere like the summit glades. i can ski that trail all day long. please dont turn it into another mountain with no soul.
DON'T KILLINGTON PICO.

I don't think that would work with the way that the chair is attached to the wire and it goes around the bullwheel at the bottom and top.Geoff wrote:I think they should just turn the chairs around and run the South Fridge triple up Jug. Also in regards to the interconnect, I believe that there is some sort of endangered owl (or some bird) that needs a 25 mile untouched radius and the preservation society has caught wind of this. Heard that in the gondi so not 100% sure on that.

3 customers represents about 15% of the skiing public at pico

Summit glade is fun though. I may ski Pico tomorrow as it was closed for two days I bet it will be skiing well with the couple inches from tuesday and whatever snowshowers we had today. I'm thinking sunset, summit, pike and all woods will be in good shape
