Saturday 1/31 when the wind WAS blowing aggressively, they didn't have a terrible wind-hold situation like in Mid-December...just Sky Ship II and South Ridge were down...and Needles RAN while it was quite windy. Imagine that!

Around noon, the Needles Eye quad shut down and I bailed out via Northbrook. At the top of Snowshed, it was deserted and no lifts were spinning. I'd never seen Snowshed on wind hold before. I thought those doubles could run in a hurricane.

I don't have a problem with ticket checkers but I do have a huge problem with the crappy technology Killington employs to scan tickets. How often do the guns not work and the damn ticket checker stands there holding the gun at my pass for 3o+ seconds hoping a miracle will happen and the damn thing will read it. Bing. Why can't a chip be put into the season passes and quickly scanned?

The reason your pass won't scan is because of the plastic pocket you keep it in or the dumb arm band thing I see so many guests wearing. The scanners are state of the art technology, but are often thrown off due to the plastic. Again, im am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, but think about me, I have to stand there all day, everyday trying to scan passes and catching lip service from every jersey chump in town for the weekend. Sometimes I purposely keep scanning the pass once the rhetoric starts, often times, for a long time....................................................................................................................Cheerio!

yet some will bitch at me for pulling it out of my pocket (not attached to anything). after getting my pass ripped off from a tree branch i dont use those pully retracting things anymore. sometimes ill use a lanyerd (sp?) but those are a PIA. every resort should just use the gates where u put ur pass in ur pocket and it opens instantly (ie Solitude).

Your comment about the "dumb arm band thing" is interesting since on Sunday when I bought by daughter an express pass, there was, very prominently displayed in the season ticket office, a "dumb arm band thing" for sale by Killington for $8.00. So I asked if these work with the scanners and I was told of course, thats why they sell them. So I suggest the Ticket Checker talk to Nyberg and inform him they don't!!!!!!!

I stopped using the plastic sleeve and am now using the pass on a rope thing. It solved my problem completely. The pass still doesn't scan, but I don't have to listen to the checker's complaining about the plastic sleeve. They just shrug and wave me on.

Not anymore - even if you forget your pass for the day they charge you $10 for a day ticket. It has happened to a few of my friends - they ended up driving back to their ski house to get their pass rather than paying the fee. I believe the $30 replacement fee for a lost pass is accurate.

Skiingsnow the policy has changed this year. Another thing to endear us to your beloved Powdr.

Like I said, Stowe charges $75. And if you forget your pass, gotta buy a full priced day ticket, not just $10...

A few years ago it was $50. I lost my pass and got directed to the Pass Office that wanted to charge me the fee. Instead I called Rich McGarry and he took care of it. A few days later my old pass showed up in the Pass Office and i got a call that it had been turned in.

A few years ago I had to get a replacement and it was free. They said the first one is on the house. This was still under ASC. I have also forgotten a pass and the policy was that you have 4 free days where they will provide you with a day ticket.

SS - people pay a lot for passes, it would be a nice gesture if the paying customer makes a mistake and forgets it sometime or loses it by accident for them to hook them up with at least one free one. The expense is extremely minimal and the good will goes a long way.

No, merely finding humor in the obvious contradiction between Tom's statement and reality as evidenced by what my eyes see every day. It's more a form of cognitive dissonance where what I see and what I'm told are clearly incompatible.
