sugarbush & jay peak open this weekend

Post by skiadikt »

Wednesday, April 29th at 12:15 p.m.

"It is 99% certain that we will be open this weekend."
Sugarbush president Win Smith

I'll thow in the extra percentage point and say this weekend's a 'go.' (Barring any kind of cataclysmic weather event, of course:)

We still have a heaping of snow on Stein's and the plan right now is to spin the Valley House double from 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The mountain crew will try to piece together a route on Upper Snowball to have some intermediate terrain, but expect this last weekend to be a "Mogul Mania."

steve wright on alpinezone:

We'll be open Saturday and Sunday with The Jet Triple accessing The Jet and Haynes trails. $39 will actually get you a two-day Adult ticket; $29 for a two-day Junior ticket. BBQ and music right at the base of the Triple (no walking back to Stateside lodge) We're also going to take your contact info when you buy your ticket and, at the end of the day on Sunday, will be pulling a name from a proverbial hat to win an actual 2009-2010 Jay Peak Season Pass.

Outstanding. This makes it a virtual lock that someone will be open on 5/3. ( I still have extra T-shirts from last year.)

We are doing a $39 two day ticket and $29 if you bring a 08/09 season pass from another area. We are also raffling off an all-mountain 09/10 season pass at 5pm on Sunday. Just register at the ticket window when you buy a ticket or present you Sugarbush season pass or Sugarcard to register. Hopefully, both Jay and we will last through Sunday for a final hurrah!

All the credit goes to Steve at Jay for this pricing and raffle idea. Imitation is the best form of flattery! Thanks for the idea, Steve!

Win, how much will it cost if we come up on Sunday just for one day of skiing?

I think the price should be the same for 1 day or 2... $29. Part of the reason for this has got to be to draw people away from Killington for their last day of operation. $29 is still a bargain for one day.

And to give Killington some credit, they too are offering a discount if you show a season pass from another mountain. $39 for a day ticket if you show a valid pass from another mountain (normally $49).
Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, then overwhelm you with their experience.

hmmmm... Not sure why this deserved a bang.

The $29 price is still for a 2 day ticket. Or am I missing something?

the way i read it is they're only selling 2 day tickets this weekend. much better deal than k who's $49 or $39 with a pass from another area for one day. essentially they're giving you a free day. throw in the raffle for the season pass and it's a fantastic deal. didn't think they'd prorate it for one day. here's the wording from the website:

The lift ticket for the entire weekend (Saturday and Sunday) will be only $39. Anyone bringing a valid 08/09 season pass from another area can ski for $29. (This includes Mt. Ellen pass holders.) Sugarcard holders will also ski/ride for $29. An 2009-10 All-Mountain 7 season pass will be raffled off at 5:00 PM Sunday. All ticket buyers, pass holders and Sugarcard holders can fill-out their raffle ticket at the ticket window in the Gate House Lodge.

actually you didn't miss anything. Nowhere in there does it say they're ONLY selling 2 day tix.

It does say how much it will cost to ski, regardless of one or two day pricing.
